That's right, I'm finally back after a long hiatus with a Succession Fort. For those of you who don't remember me (i.e. everyone) I had a failed Community fortress about one year ago and I swore I would come back eventually. Now after cutting my teeth a little bit more, I'm back with a Succession Forts for people who are new to Dwarf Fortress, new to Succession Forts, new to hosting a succession fort, new to life, or any combination of the above. (That said if you are skilled you can still sign up I just want new people to feel comfortable) Here are some basic rules I'd like to see followed
- Do not intentionally destroy the fort. If it gets destroyed before turn five we will save scum, after that it's truly over (unfortunately for the dwarves that live there)
- Only the basic mods will be used (i.e. Dwarf Fortress, Dwarf Therapist, and maybe dfcleanmap if the blood causes issues later on)
- Do not be afraid to make mistakes, it happens to all of us and this is a succession fort for "newbs" after all.
- You have one week to play through a dwarven year. If it becomes impossible to do this, please let me know.

Just post to claim a turn and I'll add you to the list sir/madam.
It had been a long journey, but finally the time had come! A beautiful new home to be built for the glory of the mountain homes. It was a beautiful location, streams easily accessible, forests as far as the eye could see, sand and clay the production of trade goods, and more than enough iron for a growing fortress. I immediately began drawing up the plans for the first few levels of the fortress. A wide entrance hall with one staircase leading up and one leading down at the end. We would gather our clay and sand from the upper levels while putting the living, working, and growing quarters on the lower levels. Beneath that would be a massive storehouse that would last for at least two years, possibly even more.
These are going to be the living/working/growing quarters, partially dug out as you can see. Early on I had wondered about our potter, he seemed to have some kind of fixation with war, and death. It did not improve when we arrived however. Now, he decided that he must defend his home from any intruders, even capybaras, hoary marmots, and harmless ducks were not to be left alone if this man had his way.
The Militia Commander/Potter/Butcher standing over a dead Capybara. If he can scratch them that hard, imagine what he'd do if he'd actually use his sword >.> At least the miners are quick and efficient, nearly clearing out the entire storehouse area already for the glory of the Mountain Homes. Knowing their skill I assigned them the task of mining out a bit of iron exposed in the nearby mountainside to begin our metal production.
Unfortunately, it looks like the summer heat is only feeding the potter's inner rage.
