@ EuchreJack: Fine. Next Krynn world I capture in a single-planet system will be named Yeoman Prime. Of course, it'll have to be really low quality  :P

I kid, I kid

Majikero, terror stars are expensive, not to mention time consuming to research and build.

Sorry for the slow weekend folks. Update tomorrow or Tuesday.

We at the S.P.Y. Network simply request a world renamed to commemorate our sacrifices.  You can pick any world you wish, we're tough.

I only picked the name Yeoman Prime because it sounded cool.  Feel free to modify the last part of the name to suit whatever world you come across.  Yeoman <insert random number>, or Yeoman Headquarters would also suffice.

Although, if we've infiltrated 20% of the government of an alien species, I wonder how much of Max Power's administration is on our payroll...  8)

CALLING ALL COUNCILORS

Was playing through the turn, blew up some ships, captured a planet, gearing up to capture more...

and the Krynn contacted me.
With a peace treaty offering.
...
WHAT.

So here's the deal. The initial treaty comes with no strings attached. Instant peace. The downside is that try as I might, I cannot get much in the way of "incentive gifts" from the Krynn. Best I could secure is a pitiful class 4 world.

Honestly? I'm a little tempted. Thanks to a certain tech we got from invading, the budget is taking a nosedive as planets all over the empire try to upgrade things. I can also see (thanks to intelligence reports) that the Krynn, despite all the planets they lost, still have substantial manufacturing capabilities. They also cheat, dirty AI players that they are (a Krynn planet, covered in factories and not much else, still manages to turn a profit in some cases). They still have almost 30 planets.

Note, however, that I said I was "a little tempted". Our ships are clearly superior, despite the enemy's weight in numbers (only a single Armok lost in the entire war!). I have a number of transports ready to load troops and kick some ass, which would become nothing more than money sinks if they no longer had an enemy to invade. For the first time since the war started, our two main areas of influence (Local Earth Space and the Southern Rim Area) finally have contiguous borders.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But I digress. I need a decision, and I would like one soon. Should we take the Krynn up on their generous offer? Or should we, in the words of Horatio Nelson, engage the enemy more closely?
War Council
The fools have played their hand. They KNOW we have the upper hand, I say we wipe them from existence, for daring to defy us!
On a side note, there's an option to turn off the auto structur upgrade, you may want to turn that one on, and cancel some of the upgrades, and just do them in a bit more of a staggard pattern.
War Council
Timferius, it makes me smile to see that someone is as warmongering as I am.  I agree, finish them.  Our ships our superior, we've got transports, we must end them.
Over and out.
Tis better to just stick more urgent buildings earlier into the build queue since most planets will in fact want to upgrade their buildings eventually anyways. Same for teraforming upgrades (unless we cheat and go neutral!), but that's really up to Sirus.
Colonial Affairs will go with whichever option will give us more planets and long-term power. I vote we we use up all of our currently built transports to steal another planet or two, then take a peace treaty where we get something good. However, if we stay in war, I can support that for now. I would watch the budget, though. If we're no longer earning money, it's time for peace since overextension will cripple us badly.
Remember, we can redeclare war on them whenever we want. We can also use peace as an excuse to attack a weaker power and assimilate them. Or we can build ourselves up and research some long-term projects like the habitibility or research techs. We could probably also use a ceasefire as a good chance to save some money. That's not even getting into the fact we can build a bunch of constructors and build our resource nodes up. Or we could dump some economy starbases near the planet our trade routes come from (Earth I bet).
Of course the War Council is going to push war, but we need to think about this carefully. We can get more powerful through combat, sure, but we can do a lot during peace as well. If we can't afford to grab more planets, we just need to accept that fact and take peace.
Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.
By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.
R&D
We've already won; reap the bounty of planets, and turn as many of them into economic powerhouses as is necessary. Don't think of it as a choice, think of it as an investment.
Also remember that you can cancel upgrades, then upgrade them later.
War Council
Is it possible for us to accept the peace, upgrade our planets, and then relaunch the war after we're rearmed?  Can we do that in a short amount of time, before the Krynn can heal?
There's no truce time. We can redeclare war whenever we want.
I think that gives like a diplomacy penalty or something, though.
Considering we're the best at diplomacy, I don't think that would be such a bad thing.
Well, as head of ship design, I don't have much to say, but I'd stil go with war.
We have four war votes and one undecided/leaning towards peace. Let's get it on  8)
I will do two things to help offset money loss. The first: No more Armok cruisers. We have plenty to fulfill our needs, and they cost a lot of money in upkeep every week. NRDLs will slow down as well, but production will not cease (they are not as indestructible as cruisers). Comp112s will only be produced on certain worlds.
The second thing is I will cancel the upgrades on all but a few worlds. Once those finish I will move on to the next few. Worlds building starships will be last, since they need the industry for war production. With any luck the economy will stabilize.
Game crashed! I'm back to June!
Now I'm maintaining forced cheer so I do not devolve into a stream of profanity!  :D
I'll have to sonofabitch! replay the turn tomorrow, yay!
It's entirely possible that turn is completely dammit! different! We may never get that peace treaty again! We may not survive the offensive that I believe triggered the treaty! AIN'T LIFE GRAND?! 8D
