Hi everyone,
I started playing DF the other day using captnduck's tutorials, LNP and the wiki to help me out. What an awesome game. I wanted to share the demise of my fortress, although maybe this is way too common


The fall of my first fortress happened thanks to my noob mistake of not brewing enough drinks and my water sources freezing. I simply wasn't paying attention to my supplies.

It really donned on me what an amazing and at times (morbidly) hilarious this game is, when one of my farmers went crazy.

Kogan Itebtath laughed like a madwoman and murdered my butcher at his own workshop. Thirst does weird things to a dwarf

She then decided it was a great time to create an artifact. Evidently, she had just the right materials to inspire her crazy ass. She proceeded to carve a dwarf bone chest out of my butcher. I'm thinking now, maybe it was an appropriate end for a butcher.

My first ever "real" fortress (I started on a glacier and somehow got it working) in 40D when I just started playing had a fell mood.
The result was a Baby Dwarf Right Leather High Boot. I had pictures and shit which were hilarious but I lost them In a HDD suffle.

I just recently had my first-ever fell mood, myself!  The son-of-a-kobold carved up my ONLY trained carpenter, to make a dwarf-bone animal trap. 

AND the carpenter came back.  Angry. 

It WAS a nice trap, though... And since my fortresses tend to rely on shell/bone crafts during the first few years, putting the murdering bastard to work in the craftshop did nice things to my accumulated wealth!

I had a similar thing happen during the downward spiral of a fortress (I believe they are called fell moods unless that's changed).  They created a dwarf bone door with the images of dwarves crying on it or something.
