Is there a way to speed up game time or ticks?

I wouldn't know what to look for if i tried. Or is it hard coded into the game?

in the RAW files some processes can be turned off, such as modelling of temperature and weather effects, those things are not really gamebreaking but do use alot of computational resources.

I don't think he means to optimise the speed, I think he means just generally. In the init file there's an option for showing your FPS, and it's also capped at 100 by defualt. Turn it off by setting the cap to 0 and your system will run it as fast as possible, sometimes hundreds of frames. I had one running at 1000 once, 10x faster than default!

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...

Change the FPS cap. Each frame is actually a tick in DF. Assuming your computer can handle it, you can raise the speed of the game massively.

One hundred and two... sigh.

Got 7.5K in the object testing arena, there should be a benchmark thread to see what uncapped FPS people can get in there.
