I think somone said in another thread that items in a stockpile have no ffect, you've actually got to place furniture e.t.c. of high quality stuff there.

I had a tantrum spiral today that resulted basically from not having a proper jail at a time when my baroness was demanding that I construct crystal glass items. So make sure you have a proper jail with several cells (I only had 1) in case a noble requests something you can't make.

Also, you'd have to disable artifacts from every other stockpile. You can also set the artifact stockpile to take from the one it's already in. And yeah, stuffing it in a stockpile does nothing. Build furniture, stuff weapons in weapon traps, get a display case mod for crafts.

I think you can use the 'Take From' option to grab artifacts from other stockpiles.

Dwarves can't tantrum if you kill them all at the same time.

Instead of making a new topic im just gonna ask here, can marksdwarves shoot down z levels? and in keeping with that question, how many supports should i have per so many floor tiles? (that are up 1 z-level above it).

collapse the dining hall into a pit of magma, right after a fresh migrant wave shows up.

Yes, they can shoot up or down. One support can hold up the entire world if you want, and building destroyers don't target them, so one will do.

The top of the sky also acts as a support, so you can have a completely floating fortress if you so wish.

I typically go to "unhappy" dwarves with every fort because priorities flow as Room for Birds > Workshops > Defence. Combining this with the flies of egg production and rain from all the outsiding I do it makes a mess of their happiness level.

Usually though a 4*4 room with a bed and all Obsidian high quality furniture will suffice. I didn't even have a dining room and most of my dwarves were very happy with their rooms.

1 tile meeting zones and good food are all a dwarf needs to be ecstatic.  They can sleep in the mud and have half their freinds die, but if they have had enough time hanging out at the 1 tile meeting area, they will pretty much be permanently cheerful.
