In other news, I decided to take part after all. I do have the win from last year's tournament, but I think I'll join the Blacksmiths again.

wow, new version already? Cool. I started playing less that 2 weeks ago, and my best character is currently at "the tomb". With "The temple" you mean the ecumenical one?. Anyways, I think I will stay aside to give room for the more experience people here, unless there is a lack of manpower.

It is indeed the Ecumenical Temple and thus you sound perfectly qualified for the Beginner team.

I enjoy the game but I suck really bad at it. I got a thing for ghouls and my best charactor, a Ghoul Monk, only got to D:10 

I heard the newest version is meant to be much easier for non-magic charactors, how true is that?

Well we had five full teams of six and an extra Bay12_Haulers team of 3. So yeah, they filled up quite nicely. 

We might need to split Intermediate to upper- and lower-intermediate. With a win, I would join the upper, I guess.

Should I use ASCII or tiles? Or is it a matter of personal preference? I'm used to using tiles.

You can't use the normal downloadable tile version for a Crawl tournament, but you can use the Web Tiles version that was nice already in the tournament from few months ago and has been improved a lot since :

I would like to join the advanced group! I have a couple of wins but they were both pure fighters, I don't think I'm capable of getting such a high score with any other class. Most I've gotten with a magic user for example was two runes.

How exactly does this tournament work on the days that it takes place? I skipped over the previous ones because I wasn't experienced enough. These kinds of things make me really nervous unless I know what's going on.

I'll play. Though, I only played a dozen games in the last 2 tourneys... combined. And I play at a snail's pace, so yeah.
