This thread got started earlier than I expected. I had a blast last year and have been waiting for this one. I would say my skill is High Intermediate or Intermediate. I've gotten I think two runes, deep into vaults, etc. Come a fair ways from the newbie I was last year :p.

Is there still room for me somewhere?

Thornet, I added you to the Recruits, which completes that team. The Soapers are complete now too.

Any name suggestions for the next Intermediate/High Intermediate team, and the next Beginner team?

Sweet, looking forward to it. Anyone have a link handy to the instructions for setting your team captain? I can't seem to find them anywhere. Or are we waiting until the teams are fairly settled?

Also, does anyone know if we have a character going on one of the servers already, does it carry over into the tournament? Or do we have kill ourselves off first?

It tries to be more approachable than Nethack. More straightforward. You know, with less undocumented alternative uses for items and obscure developer in-jokes. The core gameplay of killing monsters, leveling up and obtaining better equipment is the same, though, so if you can play Nethack, you'll probably adapt to Crawl pretty quick.

I haven't played 0.9 yet, but I've quite enjoyed the older version I played!
But, I'm not sure exactly how this tournament will work, and I'm assuming it uses Putty, which is a massive pain for me, since I use Windows... Still, I'll play if possible, once I get 0.9.
