Sweet, I just got my favorite Crawl setup ever together: quarterstaff of chaos + Xom. There is so much hilarity ahead. : P

EDIT: Hahah, just killed Josef with that.

EDIT2: I was just gonna die to Gastronok, then Xom decides to berserk me, scratch another Unique, HAHAHA :D

EDIT3: Aww, another troll got me, oh well, got a bunch of uniques dead with a very unlikely setup.

That's good going. I'm stuck in Lair since I don't have any good way to deal with hydras. Orc:2 has a pretty nasty bottleneck where Nessos can see all the stairways, and I'm not feeling nearly confident enough against him. Perhaps Okie will start giving flame brand weapons sometime soon...

i beat nessos once ... i was playing a spriggan artificier that was lucky enough to find a book of the sky ...

A scroll of fog might work to get Nessos into melee range when you feel like facing off, and a well-timed berserk rage potion might finish the job or get you to safety. Sorry I know you didn't ask for advice, but I've had way too much coffee to not give it.

Sounds like a good way to get into melee range. It's still a very high-risk project, I think, and the rewards are random as always.
