Song Maker - Sequence
« on: August 04, 2011, 04:20:30 pm »

I'm currently having a lot of fun making songs with this 'game' and then playing them on the piano, anyone know any good music simulators that are good for a piano player? Anyone want to share music they've created either by instrument or on a computer/simulator?

http://www.kongregate.com/games/quickfingerz/step-seq <-- Here:

To find my songs, go to the Globe icon and click 'Search' and type in 'Vvaryk', and hit "Author". :) Only two songs (technically three, though ones a edit of the first) on there atm, since I just found out you can save songs for others to listen to, rather than just save it to your username through a cookie on your computer. FFFUUUU-

Sequencers are fun to play with. I have something similar to that on my cellphone.

Your songs are neat as well.

And made a little song. Just search for "Soulwynd" as author and you should find it.

The drum beat is slightly off but I like the melody a lot :) Is it inspired by something or just made from the top of your head?

Mine are just random, really. Path of Contemplation though is the intro to a 30-minute long Piano instrumental I wrote a year ago.

Thanks, I like dubstep-style drums and they're usually slightly offbeat at certain points and the length of the song doesn't give much room. I tried to half the tempo on the drums to make them really slow and I don't think it was as good. So it's a bit closer to DnB right now.

And I was inspired by 'Con te partiro' earlier.

Con Te Partiro? Awesome :D

I just wrote a new song, Plasma Storm, and fixed the other songs up, especially Path of Contemplation and Static I.

I love this thing.
Is it wrong that I put down random notes and it actually sounds decent to good?

Oh man, this is great.

Definitely something I'll be screwing around with for the next couple days, thanks for the find!

Once I've got anything composed, you'll be able to find it by searching my username.  :P

Wait, wait... people actually install unity web player to play games?

I thought that was spyware. Like webtangent or whatever.

This sequencer is extremely limited.

Which is why it's so hard to really screw up, so it's not all bad. And at least it has some options, like selecting different scales.

Yeah, that's a better example. I'm drawn towards a dubstep-dub-triphop-acidjazz mix. I think this one represents what I like out of dubstep a bit more: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2fBwsB6px8
It's a trip-hop mixed with dubstep.

And yeah. It only lets you put notes in a given scale, so you can't really go too wrong. Of course, a scale allows for sad chords, but they're not so dissonant as they could be if you had access to all notes.
