Played a game as Faerie Dragon, fed horribly. I left the game at 0/11 because I'm a terrible person. It's just, like, they were rocking us, but the map seems designed to artificially slow you down as much as possible with all the extra buildings and the reinforcement runes and stuff, so it just felt completely terrible.

Faerie Dragon is a little hard to play; it requires very good reflexes with the Phasing ability, good timing when using Illusionary ball, and the ability to get all your shit done in less then a second and then get out ASAP via Illusionary or Blink.

Yeah, also my game was bugging out terribly and wasn't playing any visual effects. So most of my abilities shot the word ERROR.

If anyone has a spare invite, could they do the generous act of giving it to me?

Thanks in advance, Bay12!

Apparently there's item shop inside the game's code already so you can buy skins and such in the future.

There's almost no doubt now that Dota 2 will be free.

In other news, I have a 100% win rate. xD (but only 3 games played)

Free? Aww. Oh well, its not like you can really seperate the wheat from the chaff when everyone is already the chaff. Bigger community, I suppose :)

... now I'm actually almost curious. Would people actually buy a crappy AoS knockoff -- or, to be more charitable, a severely limited in scope AoS variant? Though don't mistake me, I still think of DotA-style as a horrific degeneration of the AoS type map, especially its potential. Not that they aren't alright for what they are, but they're like a limbless blind puppy with mange that could have been a giant firebreathing wolf with wings of raw plasma.

I have trouble seeing that many people would be willing to actually buy DotA, LoL, or HoN straight up, though. Free with cash shop, sure, but between the legendarily crappy community (Not that most online game communities aren't that way, but still) and the vicious skill barrier I have trouble seeing 'em selling worth a flip. Cash shop is a lot safer from the profit perspective, methinks.

Unfortunately Valve got tired of people using underhanded tactics to collect and sell beta keys for ridiculous amounts of money.  There are no more guest passes being given out with betas, and instead of getting a key they just put the game in your library so you can't trade it.

HoN was 30$/€ for quite a while and I think they sold tens of thousands of copies. So, yes they would. And a lot of people would pay as much as 50€ for Dota 2, but to actually win the market over, it has got to be free.

What I hope is that Valve will manage to solve the leaver/idiot problem caused by freeness that makes LoL almost unbearable when playing with one or two people with less than a full team. The commendations/reports and putting leavers in different matchmaking pools seems like a good step.

There's also the whole... if someone leaves, everyone else is free to leave the game without penalty while only the first leaver gets punished.

I have a lot of fun with Dota 2 so far. Sure, there are some things I don't find a appealing (like Invoker) but generally the good outweighs the bad.

Did you know that if you write 3.14 on a piece of paper and hold it in a mirror, it will say pie? And if you divide 42 by 3.14... you get 13.37!

It is incredibly satisfying to kill a man with a butterfly.

They stopped giving extra keys with their invites because people were selling them for like $60 each etc, and you don't even get a key yourself now, it's just on your games list.
