Play single draft, random draft and/or all random. Pudge-picking hook-missing dendi-wannabe scumbags don't exist nearly as much there.

I play almost always Random Draft, now, but ... every time there is Pudge available, someone pick him ...
And the one facing him seems to never try to hide behind his creeps ... :/

Well, yes. Playing outside of All-Pick doesn't protect you fully from mouth-breathing morons, but it's the only way.

Just yesterday i had someone chose a silencer and proceed to play him as a carry.. when the team already had 3. He went mid, skilled Q first, got 5 last hits (in 8 minutes) and abandoned the lane for the rest of the game to try to gank, by following our own creep wave.

In games like this, i just pray that someone abandons, so that i can leave without the risk of going to the hellish bracket of low priority, where everyone is pudge, and everyone is mid.

New patch
Quote
Gameplay
Fixed players' current gold being networked to enemy players.
Fixed Spirit Breaker's charge target being networked to enemy players.
Picking up an armlet that is toggled on will only grant the buff if you own the armlet.
Autocast abilities check target type rules consistently. This should prevent Clinkz's searing arrows hitting wards, for example.
Added Elder Titan, Abaddon, Centaur and Troll Warlord to Captain's Mode.
Fixed Neutral Thunderhide not using Slam when 3 enemies are nearby.
Fixed Neutral Thunderhide's Slam not slowing attack speed.
Ancient Apparition: Frostbite debuff will prevent health gain from levelling up, extra strength or extra max hp.
Slark: Fixed BKB not removing Pounce's Leash.
Treant Protector: Fixed Overgrowth affecting couriers.
Troll Warlord: Fixed Illusions benefiting from Fervor.
Troll Warlord: Fixed ranged form sometimes being able to bash.
Weaver's geminate ability no longer activates when attacking wards.
Weaver's Time Lapse and Disruptor's Glimpse now can rewind things back to before Time Lapse or Glimpse were first skilled.

UI
Runes now draw in the minimap for spectators.
Increased the penalty for not readying up from 45 seconds to 2 minutes.
Spectator stats dropdown is unlocked while listening to broadcasters.
Added a preference and cvar "dota_spectator_use_broadcaster_stats_panel" to allow spectators to have full control over the stats panels.
Private (friend/guild) lobbies now display their game name so that those browsing lobbies can get more info on what the lobby is for.
Changed drag-select of units to use the same hit detection as click-select. This fixes a number of issues where units would not get selected.
Fixed bugs that were allowing edge panning to be enabled during drag-select.
Reduced CPU usage of drag-select.
Fixed some newline formatting errors in the combat log.
Prevented guides for the previously-played hero from erroneously showing up at the start of the next game.
Added AOE hover indicator for Death Pulse.

Economy
Added Waldi courier, Ocula ward, 3 HUDs and 14 hero item sets to the store.
Updated Sniper's workshop model files with improved weighting, including corrected smd files.
Audio
Fixed bad interactions with some looping sounds and FoW.
Fixed Reincarnate stinger sometimes playing late when triggered in vision but out of hearing range.
Fixed some item cast sounds that could be heard through FoW.
Typing "tu" in chat no longer triggers hero "thank you" lines.

Fixed intermittent crash when cmd-tabbing. [Mac]
Fixed issues with older PulseAudio installations. [Linux]
Improved stability when showing webpages.
Allow setting language of audio and text separately, through Steam. (Text comes from Steam's language, audio comes from the language set in Dota 2's properties on Steam)

Fixes to make Dota2 work on a broader set of video cards on Linux
Fixed key repeat to work in text entry windows.

Slark: Fixed BKB not removing Pounce's Leash.
Treant Protector: Fixed Overgrowth affecting couriers.

These are the big ones. Nerfs (fixes) to Tree and Slark, both justified.

I want to delay Techies arrival as much as possible. Every fucking game will have Pudge, Space Cow and Techies. For now it's just Pudge and Space Cow.

Increased the penalty for not readying up from 45 seconds to 2 minutes.
Also noteworthy. Lets hope it decreases cases of 9/10 ->Returning to queue

That weaver thing is interesting. Would be interesting to see someone micro leveling his ulti so it's always up.

The Apparition change though is quite nice. Which reminds me, what's the best way to play him? He seems really awesome, chucking aoe slow fields everywhere and that godlike ulti who basically means your opponents have 7/8s their health.

AA depends on which lane you go. If mid, Q, stats, Q, stats, Q, Ulti, Q, W is the one i've seen most often. Keep in mind, that he's not the best mid hero, however, and doesn't snowball. It's "last resort" mid pick, which can still beat magnus and DK (as can everything else)

With a good team of right clickers his "E" is amazing, but outside of these line-ups, its very underwhelming.

No matter which roles you pick, Max Q first, get at least 1 level of "W" (which i find enough unless you have a nuke heavy lineup) and focus on landing those ults.
Whether to level up stats, E or W depends on the lineup, and personal taste.

Techies will make the game certainly interesting. Brazillians/Russians LOVED Techies in All-Stars. Almost as much as Riki.

Please, kind people.. They will be in EVERY GAME. for months after their release.  Where normally new heroes have a week long period when everyone plays them, Techies will always be there. Every game. Forever.

Single Draft will be thy only salvation.

Abaddon was pretty fun during that first week.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Every team fight with him was hilarious.

On the bright side though, having Techies every match will make even the deepest part of the trench realize that wards are pretty useful.

I doubt it. The Mariana Trench players don't buy wards nor dust for Riki, Brood or Bounty.

Hell, they are still a Tad away from discovering what the courier does (or that it exists).

Sentries aren't even that great against him... you can protect small areas, but blanketing the map in sentries will be expensive as heck. And once you remove one mine, he now knows where your sentry is, and starts mining other approaches.  :(

I'd say your best bet is a ranged hero with a skill that gives vision (so you can check for high-ground traps) and a gem. Storm Spirit, maybe - use Remnant to check high-ground, and you're a decent gem carrier already.
