There has been a few polls like this, however statistics should at least be gathered every year, so that progress can be viewed.

By the way, you can look at forum stats to see the male:female ratio, and some of girls use male or no gender. Also they don't usually participate in such polls, so the results are not going to be accurate .

P.S. You should move it to general discussion, I am sure more girls will notice it this way. We dorfs from the top forums DO have some dwarven beauties amongst us, but a lot of them are down there, in the general forums.

Well alot of people on the forums play Dwarf Fortress, but choose to frequent other sections of the forums. I play quite a bit of DF yet im always in FG:RP.

Not to mention that as it sits right now, it's just a "Count the ladies" exercise. Most of the ladies around here will get...offended if you just number them as opposed to, y'know, talking to them. People is people, man.

Plenty of people down in General still play DF sometimes. The DF boards get boring after a while, especially with this long between releases.

I also highly doubt many people will take this seriously. Expect skewed poll results, for some reason or another.

And male/female is a bit limited, considering all possibilities. I'm not sure how well "Other" would go, though.
