Bronze Colossus will not die. Two squads of egendary hammerlords have fallen to the beast, I have him contained, but I fear one day he will get out. How is this possible? I thought bronze colossus were killable now?

Hammers don't do too well against bronze.

Steel hammers might, but try some good swords and axes.

Steel hammers would be terrible against a bronze colossus, being the second lightest non-mood material you can make a weapon out of. Use silver hammers and steel or iron slashing weapons. Other approaches available to you are:

1. You have him contained, so just drop the roof on him. Cave-ins instantly kill anything directly below the falling material.

2. Use magma to melt him.

3. Catch him in a flimsy wooden cage. Megabeasts don't have trapavoid IIRC, so a cage trap will work just fine on him.

Um.. steel is rather heavy actually.. its the 2nd best non-modded hammer material, after silver.

Step 1.) Pick up fluffy wambler
Step 2.) Throw it at colossus
Step 3.) Party within his head. (Don't forget the booze!)

Silvers the best, bronze is better then steel, but not by much. Still, go with slashing weapons or magma.

Actually, contrary to what was said earlier, I think the problem is not that steel is a bad material for war hammers (it's pretty good, at least according to the Wiki) but that the type of damage the warhammer does is not very good against Bronze Colossi. For an organic creature like a goblin, a warhammer will smash the skull in and bash the bones to pulp. For a creature that is solid metal, it's not going to do that.

Enough fractures will kill it, yes, but pummeling with a hammer isn't going to be the best option - it's more like denting it. The Wiki recommends weapons with small contact areas (whips!) or lopping off limbs with swords and axes (not easy).

Do you have any legendary miners? Draft them into their own squad and give them steel picks.
