(DF) Flooding can make objects unreachable (ever)
« on: October 27, 2006, 03:03:00 pm »

Im running v0.22.110.22b

I've observed that seasonal flooding of the underground river can push objects onto the same tiles as the impassable parts of workshops, making them completely unreachable.

There may be other causes too. I have a bit of platinum ore on one of the 'must overlap lava' tiles of the magma workshop. I'm not sure how it got there but no dwarf will remove it.

As a workaround, I'm guessing you could get to them again by unbuilding the workshop.  Not sure what would happen to the object over magma -- probably destroyed.

If the object over magma stayed there, you could build a bridge over it. that should let your dwarves pick it up.

Yeah, this stuff is on the list...  and those remedies probably work.  You might need to mess with the bridge a bit if there are items left on the lava.  It might not let you build because the item overlaps the build site, but sometimes that doesn't stop them.
