MUD users/developers diminished greatly after MMORPG became popular. All those left are either hardcore fans, or people like soul and others who ice their MUDs for years. It's really amazing that I even find someone actually do use Java to implemented MUD server. (+clients actually, they even got a telnetd client)

The problem is that if you can use Java to make a shell of server-client games, it essentially becomes an actual MMORPG. You can do way more than text with Java. So why bother. But the idea of these kind of crazy crawler games are indeed somewhat original (overlap with certain kind of forum-website game I suppose). I think with the right people who are willing to take the time and effort, it will be fun. (So many good ideas just wasted because the lack of right people and investments.)

I am just really.. discouraged :(
Especially with Soulwynd muted, its really annoying.

Especially with Soulwynd muted, its really annoying.

If you are familiar with C, than I suggested you used C#. It's much more powerful as an OOP and GUI designed language, and it's almost need no time to learn if you are already coding using C/C++ before.

You may try to find some C# chatroom source codes as basics. Since it's one of the most simple text msg server-client exchange. Kind of like IRC. And instead of letting the server simply forwarding msgs, letting the replies include the crawlers and tag cloud processing result with others actions. Then you got a simple MUD-like crawler game.

I got some source code for server-client and crawler if you want. (Under CC 3.0). But C# version of tag clouds is under (Ms-PL) though. (You will need a license).

Ey, yer can consider it sleeping, right now Soulwynd is muted, or atleast has not posted a long time here.
Counting is appaerently trying to get some java stuff working, and i am wasting my time building cottages in Wurm.

Java implementing isn't going well as it seems. Since I also got other project needed to be done. And I got into building a model that using swam intelligence to create QA system. Quite an interesting stuff and I know how to implemented it. Maybe I'll integrated it into the Java-IRC which you can chat and talk not only to the players.
