"It is indeed, the breas-- Er, best, most beautiful singing I have ever heard!"
Rovod scratched his nose and attempted a charming smile. It probably didn't turn out too well.
His mind was still on, well... His profession, let's say.
"Hey, um. So, are there more of your kind about, then? I think I met one fellow a while ago, down there. I've never met any merfolk before, you know! What's it like swimming about all the time?"
Rovod decided to make smalltalk. He couldn't see any possibility of mermaid milk in the future, and it didn't seem particularly wise to anger the creature.

Zan simply chases Sibrek and whacks her across head with the bone, if possible/within reach.

running check: d12=2, d12=3
You run after Sibrek but she is too fast for you to keep up!

>_

> practice social skills.

Why are they all running away?!
conversation check: d12=6, d12=3
"MY NAME IS GUYDON MOISTBODIES! IT'S A PLEASURE TO MAKE YOUR ACQUAINTANCE!"
You are sure that was a nice introduction. Sadly they are too far away to respond.

>_

chase after her

running check: d12=5, d12=10
You chase after her but can only catch up with Zan...
Askot Bokbondeler, Record keeper, is a Novice Runner now!

hit: d12-2=2, evade: d12=6
A copper dagger flies past Zan! You guess it came from Sibrek.

Rovod scratched his nose and attempted a charming smile.
Rovod decided to make smalltalk.

flattering check: d12=7, d12=10
You are not sure whether she got what you meant or your compliment was successful...
"Yes, we have a city not far away. Swimming all day, it's like... well, I don't know anything else."
"Can you swim? I heard you dwarfs usually can't. I could maybe carry you in the water, the air makes everything more heavy than it is."
"Would you like learning how to swim with me?"

The mermaid seem to be luring you into a trap..
It however may not be a trap..
But I guess there are worse ways to die..
..And it will certainly will put me off the waiting list.  :P

(Sorry guys, had a lot to keep up with lately!)

"We-ell..." Rovod was a bit nervous about the whole thing. Firstly, it was water! Water! and secondly, whilst this mermaid seemed nice, what if the nasty merman from earlier turned up? He didn't want to be caught in the water...
But this attractive fish-lady was certainly preferable to whatever was going on inside!

"Uh, alright! But could we stay in this shallow bit, just here? Perhaps some time I could... Fill a large... I don't know, tub or barrel with water and show you the fortress!"

Askot Bokbondeler, Record keeper, has succumbed to the zombie disease!

I'm sorry about the late update, but I had some reallife woes keeping me from posting. I also wanted to give Askot time to post, because the zombie disease would have killed him very soon. I'll hopefully be more active now...
Next on the list is Ultimuh, who appears to be still following this thread and because of the long wait will spawn RIGHT NAO:

Odok Flameburns
Woodburner with pyromanic tendencies.

...I'd rather he be a record keeper...

After a long journey from your homefort, from where you had been expelled due to an unfortunate accident involving the mayor's masterwork marble desk, you finally arrived at Gulfbasement, a dwarven settlement whose inhabitants are hopefully less concerned about engravings on their furniture.
You are standing amid a few trees on a grassy plateau. To the north you can see and hear the ocean, while in the south a small hillside is visible.

>_

After her! Kill her!

running check: d12=10, d12=11
You run after Sibrek but cannot get close enough to play the drums on her.
Your stomach starts to feel uneasy again...

>_

> explain misunderstandings and try to make everyone stop fighting!

running check: d12=12, d12=11
pacifying check: d12=2, d12=6
You reach the fighting dwarves just in time to ramble something about love and peace and rainbow unicorn trees. They do not seem to care.

But this attractive fish-lady was certainly preferable to whatever was going on inside!
"Uh, alright! But could we stay in this shallow bit, just here?"

You step into the water and try to hold on the slippery mermaid...

She grasps you with her arms and quickly dives downward! You feel you are going to start drowning soon!

Weaponize incoming stomach revolutions by vomiting onto Sibrek. Then after her with empty stomach!

Tale a look around the area, to get a quick estimation of what the surrounding land might be worth.
Count the surrounding trees as well, as they are a valuable exploitable resource.
