I'll take it if no one minds. :D
I mind.  >:(
Actually no, wait, you were here first. Yay you! How lucky it's even the nation you wanted, more or less. It'll be fun finding out what a Scandinavia dominated EU can do.
Oh, we all know of the evils of socialism.

I have to ask. From what manga is this from? It's awesome!
I wish I knew. I just found it on 4chan.

I think it was on /m/, so it might be a Kamen Rider manga, what with the scarf and all, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Hopefully Baka Updates Manga shall have the answer then. The page made me wish to read the manga.

It's from Franken Fran, though saying it has anything to do with Socialism implies a very different understanding of Socialism than the dictionary definition.

And wow, the other Aurora thread just got bumped up so now there's 3 different threads like this right at the top of the front page. I didn't know Aurora was so popular, having never heard of it until recently. It seems like people had different ideas on how to modify the rules and such, so I hope you guys figure something out that works well for you. Good luck with everything! ^^

It seems uniquely popular on this forum; I hardly ever see mention of it elsewhere, but on Bay12 it gets about as much discussion as on the official Aurora forum. Which isn't really that surprising, it really is the Dwarf Fortress of 4x games.

Since this game hasn't actually begun yet, will it be run using the new 5.51 version? Since it's a database update and will wipe your save games.

It's from one of the Sentinel chapters. You can read it on Mangafox. I'd link to it directly but I'm not a big fan, and it might be inappropriate to link to.

Also, I'm liking Ehndras' posts. XD It's nice to see that kind of excitement, especially from someone who's not even officially in.

As a side note, it seems like everyone really knows what they're talking about. I'm impressed! Since I'm not participating either will it be acceptable to stay in the thread to learn how more about Aurora works? I've read all the tutorials and tips so I think I understand the concepts in abstract, but there's a real lack of images of the interface and such so it'd be great to hear more.

Aye, its what I did! :) I learned a LOT just from lurking on the Lets Play threads.

I'm currently 5 years into my newest Aurora game :) I've got automatic mines and 2 tracking stations on Mars, a missile-equipped (86 missiles) Jump-Cruiser, a geo survey ship, a Jump-Grav Survey ship, an experienced geo survey team, spy team, diplo team, and xeno team, all at 120-160, a freighter transporting buildings around and a colony ship to eventually bring colonists to new worlds. ;)

I'm currently trying to get some research done and get Mars settled before I go through my first Jump Point, right outside of Mars' orbit (9 O' clock, exactly).

I'm getting Mars up to 5 tracking stations, it SHOULD get the JP into my sensor range, though only for biggish ships.

Hopefully I don't get Raeped as soon as I go into the JP... I'll make sure to get some of my weapon ships online before I go adventuring in other people's systems.

Btw, one thing I haven't figured out is how to build PDCs, or as I call them, Weapons Platforms. (I'm an old-school Space Empires IV, Galactic Civilizations, etc. Player, hahaha)

I've got the design all ready, but where do I build it??? Shipyards like a regular ship? I probably just need to upgrade my NSY to get the proper size to build it, then.

Wait it is up now? God damn, after doing all that work to set up the game I have to restart it and build up the nations again...

This is probably a better question for the thread in other games, but PDCs are built from the industry screen, by construction factories (or engineers, if you want to build them on uninhabited planets).

On the brightside, if your game is new, then you won't lose much progress. ;D

It's probably for the best that I'm not in this game. I've played Aurora singleplayer on and off for ages, so I'd likely just try to do things that would be horribly inefficient but amusing, just for the sake of doing them. Like spending ten times my GDP on building 50,000 ton military ships, or investing in shields early on, or relocating my entire population to a nebula-10 with nothing but one planet that happens to have a temperature of -50 after fully terraforming it.

I just checked the official forums, and there appear to be notable bugs in the new version. Might want to hold off on upgrading.
