You should have used longer snorkels.

As far I as I know there's not a huge difference in healing time for any kind of malady, so resting like we've done in the past should work just as well.

I laughed at the accidental fording of a 20 ft river. XD I can't imagine how they'd even begin to try if their feet wouldn't even touch the bottom. Maybe they tied the wagon and oxen to themselves and tried to swim for it?

Anyway, I'm impressed no one's died yet! You're doing a good job Sensei. You're also much better at hunting than I ever was-you're actually keeping the food supply steady at around 500 pounds.

Really glad that this thread is updating regularly too. I don't know if you've done other LPs before but I this one seems to be going well. So far so good Sensei!  :D

I can't imagine how they'd even begin to try if their feet wouldn't even touch the bottom.
Presumably this is the kind of fording that involves a giant catapult. On another note, I wonder if you can drown by failing to caulk your wagon across a three foot deep river.

Anyway, I link a couple other LP's in my signature, if you're curious (though one's basically a roleplaying campaign in the game's sandbox). Those both eventually petered out. This one probably won't have the same fate as it has a clear end in sight (which I intend to reach before I go traveling next weekend).

Speaking of your signature, you have two dead RTDs. Might want to remove them, there's no reason to keep them.

Hardly anybody reads them, I'm sure, but I keep 'em in there for posterity anyway.

Back to our scheduled programming!

After a whole week of resting, Urist's leg still isn't recovered. Since we're all healthy though, we decide to get moving at a steady pace until he recovers. It's a very short journey to Fort Hall.

Now, I'm sure I haven't given you enough examples of the 'talk' button to notice this, but there's pictures of the same few people in every town or landmark.

ALLEGEDLY, this here is Cousin Miles (according to another talky-person) and he's now going to California. So apparently he WAS the same person all along, not just a recycled picture? Stay tuned for more.

We've reached snake river. Urist healed up. We used one of our spare wagon axles- it's the first wagon part to fail so far and it's unlikely we'll run out of spare parts at this rate.

Snake river is deep and wide, but apparently we can hire an indian to get us across. This is basically what we brought all those spare clothes for! Let's see what the locals say. One says to be careful of crossing, and another says it's very important to hire an indian guide. The last-

Cousin Miles! I thought you were going to California! Fancy seeing you here...

So, time to pay our guide. You know, just since I never get tired of watching that wagon sink, I'll save and see what happens if we don't. Ford: Naturally a guy dies and we lose all our oxen. Caulk: Boom, sinks right off the bat and... what?

Silly RNG.

So, um, after NOT paying out guide and evidently making use of the hidden "swim across" option, we're back on the trail. With another fever, we get to our next rest stop, Fort Boise. It's mid September and the year is getting late, but it's still pretty hot.

Naturally, Cousin Miles (or his evil twin) is in town again. I guess I'll hand him the letter I was writing. A man talks about not being able to take your wagon over the blue mountains, which is hooey because that never actually happens in the game.

Also, prices in the store have reached 125% markup. Did I mention that's 125% MORE?

I think that $20 is toilet paper, at this point. Well, unless maybe you were out of bullets (we still have 66 out of our starting 100).

An ox gets sick. Oh dear. What ever will we do if an ox dies. I decide to keep to a strenuous pace.

Take a look at the map, we're close to the end.

We eventually reach the Grande Ronde, in the blue mountains which don't affect our wagon. Cousin Miles says they're pretty. I wouldn't know, I don't travel down to Oregon very often and the only thing I notice is that they have Carls Jr and we don't. Probably not missing out much.

Before we get moving, we have a decision to make:

Shall we head straight for the Dalles (basically the end of the game), or go to Walla Walla? Hint: We don't need anything they're selling. But I'll leave the decision to you regardless.

Hmmm...

On one hand, Walla Walla is a funny name.

On the other, there's no real reason to go to Walla Walla.

...

Ehh, go to The Dales. What could possibly go wrong?

Yeah, we don't need to go there. Do you get a point malus if you get to Oregon with a broken leg?

Dalles. I'm surprised that we've made it so far without losing one person, or having so few injuries. The RNG must love us.

Turns out it's pretty easy not to die if you play it careful, I guess. Needs hard mode. In fact I can't believe I never got a good opportunity to show the "someone died" screen.

We leave. An ox dies for absolutely no apparent reason, but we're in sight of the Dalles river before long!

We have the option of either taking the Barlow Toll Road overland, and paying five dollars, or rafting our wagon down the Dalles river. Either will in short order lead us to our final destination, Willamette Valley.

Obviously we're doing the more dangerous of the two.

The actual rafting consists of a little minigame where you dodge rocks, and if you hit any people drown and stuff is lost, much like if you sink in a river. Meh. Oh, evidently we started a vineyard, because that's all that's in Willamette Valley nowadays.

That's Oregon Trail folks! I could have sworn it was harder in elementary school...

Only 7500 points? One of the runs I did where I saved our LP and ran straight to the end at a grueling pace got 17000. Whatever. Stupid scoring system.
