Ice wall out of nowhere

so I was walking from my island homeland to the mainland, because I ran out of quests.
me and my companion were walking over the frozen ocean, which was pretty nice since its faster than swimming.
suddenly a huge ass wall of ice appears out of nowhere, engulfing my companion and killing him.

wut

EDIT: I jumped in a crack I found with mist coming out of it. it said I died after slamming into an obstacle

EDIT AGAIN: I went back to my save, and kept going. it seems the ice wall is following me.

it is pretty funky.

I wouldn't mind it if it didn't make the game laggy as shit

I got this bug today first time, after I sleep in cave. My face after that :o
