Roll 44
POI's:You can make up POI's. In fact, please do. That would take some work off me.

This list is unfinished.
In 2028, war between the Ross and the Centarui happened like usual. Both empires initially attempted to attack each other's homeworlds instead of major colonies. The Centauri government, to make things horrible for the Ross, built massive walls overlooking the Ross' major landing zone, and affixed howitzers and flak cannons atop its supports.
Seeing the wall's construction, the Ross at first ignored it, executing sieges against the city as per standard procedure.
As the wall expanded sideways, however, the Ross had to travel further and further--while taking fire--in order to move around it.
Eventually, seeing as the Centauri would eventually expand the wall to circle the entire city, the Ross gave up.
They retreated, and began attacking colonies, returning to a more traditional form of warfare.
Today, the bulwark is largely unused, but due to the massive costs involved in removing the thing, the Centauri government has simply let it stand. More recently, junkers have been attempting to cut parts of the wall off to sell as high-quality steel, as well as collecting the rusting howitzers and cannons still in place.
----Gear District----A
launch loop that links Empire City to an orbital network of space elevators, other launch loops, hypersonic trams, cargo drop platforms, and stations. It is
always bustling with cargo, passengers, and even ships being lowered and raised into orbit.
The structure itself has lasted nearly 850 years, having been set up by Centauri engineers 50 years after the
Centauri first landed in the ocean. One of the deflector stations, in fact, is centered around the floating remains of the colony ship.
The launch loop costs 10 credits per ride, with an additional credit for every metric ton of cargo shipped.
(Until I post a writeup on planet Centauri, I'll say here that the
Centauri carried with it a miniature city, complete with state-of-the-art recycling systems, even for the 2090's, when it was started and finished. Upon landing, the ship's engine and hull was dismantled for materials and electronics while the reactor was used to power the first settlement, built on top of the buoyant colony ship.
Centauri Prime was discovered to have little if any ocean currents due to a conveniently large moon that orbited about 1.2 times every Earth-day, eclipsing the sun every night, keeping the planet's surface shielded from the star. Centauri Prime has a very, very long day of 320 days, and a year of 340 days.
Every 14-15 years or so, the planet's lit side becomes its dark side, freezing everything and forcing wildlife to migrate. Centauri cities are usually fitted with artificial heating to protect themselves, or simply built on top of large geothermal vents, like Empire City).
Empire Launch Station has a deflector setup underneath the city plaza. The ring is not very well protected, because it is firstly unknown to most citizens, and secondly there are two main entrances, both of which are locked down unless maintenance is required.
----Steam District----Technically not part of the city, but nonetheless important, the massive lava pit near the city radiates heat which protects the general area from freezing over during a 'dark decade.'
The Empire City Emergency Lava Pit Sealing system consists of a massive tungsten door, powered by massive servos. When activated, it can seal the lava pit in case of volcanic activity. Attempts have actually been made to sabotage the system in the Ross-Centauri war of 2928, but those attempts have since been repaired after a short period of civil panic over the possibility of an eruption.
The lava pit has been stable since its discovery. Owing to the planet's lack of rotation, scientists have guessed that because the planet lacks strong magma currents, no eruptions should occur in the near future.
Surrounded by a high wall, the pit is a common tourist attraction during the 'light decades.' However, during 'dark decades,' the top of the pit cools over.
The pit's industrial use is obviously power. The massive amount of heat in the lava allows factories to pump it from the pit's surface and use it for local power generation. A lava distribution system exists and is run by the Centauri Civil Works Institute, both pumping and distributing lava to nearby factories in order to reduce power costs.
----Spark District----Located in "The Drop Crater"--a crater formed through centuries of cargo drops--Alpha Drop Zone features a nearby recovery and repackaging station designed to retrieve cargo dropped from orbit. The cargo drop process is quite simple, really. You drop cargo off at an orbital drop station, paying 3 credits per disposable shock-absorbing crate, and it is subsequently dropped from orbit. This system has been around for ages, quite literally, and still works today as a simple method of transporting cargo via gravity.
'Poor' in today's terms doesn't quite mean what it did in the modern era. Food is so cheap now that rarely will people lack the money to buy food. Simply due to the massive demand for food, agriculture organizations can provide basic food for free, even.
Luxury food, of course, remains out of reach from the poor. So do many forms of electronics.
However, the residents of Spark District are not useless, unemployed beggars. They often work in scrap fields, ship repair shops, gun stores and ranges, and in some cases, they operate with the black market.
The reactor is essentially what powers the city. It is a huge, massive, colossal, gigantic cylindrical structure measuring two kilometers in height and roughly four hundred in width. At its base is a joint-uranium mine and nuclear lab. While miners toil away mining pitchblende, geothermal power is used to smelt the ore and extract the uranium, then turn it into plutonium by feeding into the reactor's first breeding stage, which is used to power the next stage.
The next stage is a massive fission core. While fusion remains far more efficient than fission, the city's near boundless uranium deposits make it far cheaper to simply use fission for power rather than fusion. The reactor was completed two decades ago and has proven to be a far, far superior source of power than the previously used geothermal vents, which have now been utilized solely for magma powered factories.
The Light's Stead is a large tavern located in the Spark District just outside of the slums, because of this it is frequented by Black Market Dealers, Arms Runners, and Mercenaries of all kinds. Because of this the place has a rule where all weapons are scanned before entrance, and anything fore more then personal defense is not allowed on the grounds.
Any form of government security stays far away from this establishment due to the numerous number of lawbreakers who would attack them on sight. This place is also one for meetings between the Dealers, and their customers as well as a place to make contacts in the Black Market, and Arms Runners.
The Arms Runners are a special criminal organization that works for anyone who wishes to get things where the opposition's resistance is to great for others to get through. They are trained highly in stealth, assassination, and information gathering making them the perfect decision if you want someone to escort your supplies to their destination. Though, because of their unique neutral status in the Criminal Underworld they are extremely cautious, and will never support anyone in the destruction of any small crime group no matter what the reward is.
Events:Caplus bashed his helmet a bit to get the autorun started. Finally, a popup appeared, reading: "AI Loaded. Meet Willem"
"Allo? Allo? How are you? It is wonderful to meet you!!! You look like a cool person!!! Nice weapon!!!"Caplus punched himself in the side of the head.
"Ow, that hurt... Okay then. How are we? You've got a nice gun there... how does it work?""We'll see. I need to test it out on live targets first. Say, do you know where I can find something to... kill?""Try the reactor. Its energy signature has attracted some normally space-dwelling predators that otherwise attack ships. The Centauri government has some rather liberal gun laws and regulations, so it's totally fine if you go out to kill stuff that would normally try to kill you."Caplus exited the workshop, retracting his WunderWaffe. He traveled into the spark district entrance by tram, before dismounting and heading toward the massive metal pillar in the distance: The Reactor.
He made his way down the run-down dirt roads, passing by a few shanty town pits and a tavern, which he thought he almost saw Zakroff in... and eventually left the populated area into a field of scorched yellow dirt. The reactor's plume of coolant collected into a ball up in the yellow-orangish sky, placing The Reactor in a gloomy shadow.
He made it to the base of the tower, to a large raised concrete foundation, with large metal pipes sticking out of the concrete and directed into the ground.
The first thing Caplus wanted to do was actually enter the structure. He attempted to find a staircase to the top of the raised foundation, but before he could find one (if there was a stairway) he started to hear a distinct reverbing screech. He looked up to see two dog-sized fliers hovering around scaffolds and pipe-ways. They currently didn't see Caplus.
The Gorv family consists of predatory asteroid field dwelling creatures. The main distinctive features of a Gorv are as follows:
-A two-halved shell with some kind of luster on it. Sometimes they are iridescent but most species have shiny shells.
-Two glowing organs on either side, usually pink or light blue. These organs use an as-of-yet unknown mechanism to repel nearby particles at immense velocities. They have proven to work just as well in air as they do in space, because it appears he energy individually imparted onto nearby projectiles is simply magnified when there are fewer particles.
These organs have been known to emit sound in a gaseous medium. In nebulae and atmospheres a distinct reverbing screech is heard while the creatures are in flight.
-A bundle of around 12-20 tentacles. Each tentacle has a segmented ferric (iron) blade running down one side, and is otherwise made up of 80% muscle and roughly 12% carbonaceous plating.
-A pair of weighted mandibles, with thin stalks holding up large ferrous spikes; these mandibles are usually capable of punching into steel.
-A metabolism that operates primarily by oxidizing large amounts of metal at once. The Gorv's digestive tract is filled with enzymes that can catalyze in a controlled fashion reactions between numerous metals, most notably aluminum and rusted iron--essentially creating thermite. It is advised that ships with aluminum hulls should stay close to escorts as Gorves have been known to go after aluminum targets over ferric targets simply because the Centauri scrap fields are already a perfect source of iron.
Some Gorves have managed to find their way into the atmosphere of Centauri Prime. Because of the large presence of junk fields orbiting the planet, Gorves may have followed rock-eating prey as well as junker ships closer and closer into the planet's orbital junk field. At one point, a few Gorves may have followed a ship into the atmosphere, and stumbled into a Centauri city--full of metallic ships and buildings to devour.
Needless to say, the city of Winnebis Valley (near a major iron mine...) did not last long.

Varron continued exercising his clairvoyance--this time, without meditating. He stood up, closed his eyes for one moment, and sooner or later he was on the ground, clutching at his head in pain from the information overload. His meditation gave him the focus to handle small chunks of the incoming information at a time... but now fully conscious, he couldn't handle all of the information! His magical abilities kept force-feeding him the exact location of everything within the area around him... it was too much!

Milia headed to a nearby sports store--hunting Sand Mantas was something she always liked to do on her occasional trips to the planet-side. They were fast and deadly predators, and since they could take you out from a range and, well, kill you, and then gut you and devour your organs thanks to their mineral-dependent metabolism, you needed to kill them from a distance, quickly, without being spotted. Therefore, guns were out of the question unless you were a good aim and had a big enough rifle. Milia had no such weapon, but she did have her silent bow.
Bows were the primary method used to hunt Sand Mantas by recreational groups. Sports stores often sold compound bows and crossbows as well as arrows designed to do all kinds of damage to the Manta, to ensure a quick kill.
She headed into
Sports Dominion, and began looking through the aisles.
{Weapons}
Barwell MAA8 (A crossbow with mechanized windlass and integrated telescopic sight, giving a +2 to hitting with the weapon. Cannot reload and fire in the same turn. Piercing Damage: 50 + 5 * (D6 + Accuracy + Ranged Combat + Bow Use + Special Weapons))-900 Credits
Cendex Compound Bow (A gear-driven bow that stores a lot of energy in an efficient fashion, and is guaranteed to impart that force effectively into the target. Can mount a sight to increase accuracy. Damage: 25 + 3 * (D6 + Accuracy + Ranged Combat + Bow Use + Special Weapons))-400 Credits
{Arrows/Bolts}
>4x Standard (Does nothing)-40 Credits
>4x Hardened (Headed with a wolfram tip. +15 Damage) (Never breaks on hit)-120 Credits
>4x Fragmentation (Equipped with a small explosive charge and coated depleted uranium head. +7 Instances of 5 damage each.) (Cannot be recovered)-100 Credits
>1x Boomerang (+20 Concussive Damage)-80 Credits
Sand Mantas are known for their fast metabolism, which depends heavily on a large influx of minerals. When eating a kill, Sand Mantas often eat organs first--especially the liver--and have been known to sling intestines around their bodies when too bloated to eat right away. Scientists have proposed that their mineral-based metabolism allows their ability to glide hundreds of kilometers without tiring.
Some Sand Mantas have been observed eating sand--presumably because they were low on minerals. Of course, this allows the Manta Worm parasite to get inside of the Sand Manta via ingestion, and thus continues the life-cycle of the sand-dwelling Manta Worm larva.
Milia bought something (specify what, please) and headed to the library. She picked out a book on archery from the shelves:
Skill increased!
--------
Kayle bought the specified items.
Amatin made his way to the MiliTech building as well, buying a few missiles before talking to the security guard at the stairway.
"Hey there, this surely couldn't be it, could it? Would you happen to know where the other items for sale are?" The guard remained still, chin high and eyes partly obscured underneath his crested helmet.
Ask the salesman if they have any plasma weapons in stock.
I interpret this as "persuade the guard," if you know what I mean

[4] Amatin decided that the guard was hiding something--probably downstairs. In order to not alert him, Amatin used his Mind Lock ability on the guard to keep the guard from interacting with the world... at all. He made sure to disable his senses (especially vision) as well as his memory--to make sure the guard didn't remember being knocked out.
The guard dropped to the floor. Amatin grabbed him before he hit the ground with a thud. Afterward, Amatin headed downward and found a blank door, with no words whatsoever on it. Trying the door, he found that it was locked--but there was a slot for a keycard on the handle.

Zakroff headed to the particular shanty's local scrap pile, and began to look for the highest quality parts available to construct another spider turret with.
[6] He found himself a cleaning droid that someone had lost the batteries to. It was covered in rust and most of the joints had dried out--indicating it was tossed here a while ago, but looking at it, he saw no other problems with the base.
[5] He used Reconstruction to morph the droid into a basic spider turret frame, albeit covered in a thin layer of rust which he could brush off. This was so that he drew no suspicion when pulling the droid out.
--------
Jaffar, before heading to the Militech building, did the following:
[7] Extracted 8x Artificial Muscle from Robot Parts, then condensed them into four cylindrical muscular sheaths. He then inserted them into his armor and wrote a quick little script to control the muscles in tandem with his suit's other motors. He finally tested out the new gauntlets and punched a soda can through the wall.
