Name-Letter Carrer Effect Generator

link to site
So there is a theory that there is a slight tendency to choose jobs sounding close to the name of yourself, such as many dentists called 'Dennis' or 'Denise' (taken from the generator's page). I found an awesome web page that will find jobs close to your name, giving you both a modern and olden days example. Just found it pretty interesting.

For Toady One:
Quote
In Present Day: a Top Research & Development Officer
In History:a Toe Rag (who worked at the docks as a corn porter)

Good thing he was born in present day, right?

Myself: a Quality Assurance Head Hospital/a Quilter or Quiltress.
I'd like to think that people with 'Q' names are immune to the rule.

So what did you get, and is it accurate?

And the generator was made by Kevan Davis (at kevan.org, he made Urban Dead, and other cool stuff), so all the more awesome!

Ninja-EDIT: Threetoe is a Third Highest Paid Executive or a Thresher.

My name in present would make me a Janitorial Supervisor, in history it would make me a Jack.

Ah yes, I recommend you use your usernames for this if you are going to post the results. It might not be as...'accurate', but if you don't want people to know your real name, it makes it pretty easy to figure it out with guesses.

I got some weird stuff:

Username: a Critical Care Unit Nurse/a Crimper (member of navy press gang)
Real Name: a Dance Director/a Dateler or Day Man or Daytaleman (casual worker, usually employed by the day)

The only one I could see myself doing is the Crimper. Although even that is a bit odd.

...Apparently, I'd be a Dance Supervisor or...
A Danter. No, I am not female and I don't oversee your needs for silk!

However, my middle name and last name are better. Sure, a Vice President of Real Estate or distiller alcoholic drinks would be fine for me to do.

My name is Curtis. I would be either a Curator, or a Curretter (broker). Not even close  :-\.
Using Sonerohi I get a Sonographer, or a Souter (shoe maker). This guy must be high.

It does say a slight chance, it is still interesting. And it goes together so well with your name. You could go up to people and shout: I AM CURTIS...the CURATOR!

Still an interesting theory, though.e

I'd be more cool with it if curator was like, a tobacco curing person rather than a museum runner. Although my third middle name had closer results.

Here is the direct link, so you don't have to crawl over to kevan.org to find the damn thing.

Grakelin

Present day:
a Graphic Artist
In history:
a Graver
(carver or sculptor, engraver of images or dockside worker who cleaned ship bottoms by burning and tarring)

The Real Me:

Present day:
a Sign Language Interpreter
In history:
a Simpler
(agriculturist that we would call herbalist today)

Theory seems flawed. I have never met a dentist named Dennis. And I do not know Sign Language. And I hate plants.

You must know many many dentists (and be many many people yourself somehow) to invalidate it on that.
