Are you using ramps or stairs for your dwarves up/down movement?

Are you sure he didn't trap himself somewhere? Maybe he was building a wall and got stuck on the wrong side?

I'm downloading your save right now, I'll update this thread once I come up with something.

edit: I found nothing really worth notice. You got a weird door policy, and 2 dorf are pretty pissed off, but everything seems normal.

stairs, why?

If you were using them, ramps can be kind of glitchy.  They will sometimes work fine, and sometimes dwarfs will consider them to be non-passable terrain.  Most perplexingly, they can sometimes start out operational and suddenly become unusable, even if you change NOTHING.  So basically, if you were using ramps, it's possible that your guy got trapped by a ramp that suddenly became nonfunctional.  Since you're using stairs, that's probably not the case.

Are you sure about that? Can you please point me to a source in the wiki/forum/bugtracker? (Couldn't find anything myself)

Never happened to me, personally. I'd like some confirmation if possible, too.

now it's for real, many of my dwarfs are thristy despite 260drinks and a build well which doesn't seem to work. they also won't use all the small lakes on the map. and why do they need so much water if they prefer alcohol? so how do i stop them from dehydrating to death?

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

You could have a syndrome that destroys their mouths or something equally harsh. Usually large numbers of unexplained effects can be attributed to them somehow.

Ironically, it's a 7-zip file.
