More realistic natural resources for aventure mode
« on: August 01, 2011, 04:43:03 am »

Currently there is infinite amount of rocks, mud sand etc laying on the ground. It's too easy to quickly grind your throwing skills and attributes like strength and agility. Therefore i suggest to spawn only one piece of whatever instead of infinite amount of what ever.
This way skills would become more valuable and game little more challenging because you would have to gather items in long term rather than spam pickup

I'm going to assume that the earth's surface pretty much does have infinite sand, pebbles, and various decompositia to be found.

Granted, you may have to dig a bit, but if the ground has any pebbles on the surface, you're likely to find plenty just a few inches under the surface.

They do not simply pick one up, but search for it like David and his sling's pretty rocks.

Seeing as each square can hold a dragon, and pebbles can be quite weightless I actually can.  I have a little pebble garden over there, in my yard.

I have a feeling that tracking the stones available in each square, or even most reasonable fascimiles of doing so, would eat up obscene amounts of memory.

Agree, plus that's about the LAST thing *I* want to see from this kind of game - author spending valuable development time on useless graphics.

On the contrary, it would just make spam pickup take longer by adding an extra keypress to each step to move to the next square (or possible several keypresses to move several squares, depending on the contents of the next square over; If I wanted to waste my time with mindless repetitive button pressing, I'd play Anti-Idle.
