I'll use a d6 to decide who has the medicae ability, unless someone buys it.
However, I don't think any career allows you to get medicae at rank 1.
I plan on picking Medicae when I get 200 XP since it's available at Outcast Scum Rank.
I'm going to do something creative is regards to getting new items, because you're all in the Imperial Guard.
We're going to use Requisition, which functions very similarly to Profit Factor.
Requisition starts at 20, and goes up by 1d3 for every mission completed.
When you want new equipment such as armor, or weapons, you roll 1d100 to see if you can get it from the Adeptus Ministorum clerk. If you roll under the Requisition score, you get the item. Requisition can not be modified by rareness.
When you want a new miscellaneous item, such as Amasec, or Iho-Sticks, you do normal Dark Heresy style purchases, but at a +10 modifier.
You can only get augmetics and things like rebreaathers if you get injured, and you get them free of charge at at Good quality.
For things like weapon upgrades, you do Requisition rolls. However, if is for a melee weapon, you trade in your current weapon, and you either wait a mission to get the upgrade to that weapon, or get a newly crafted one with the upgrades that you selected.
How does this system work with the Inquiry and Barter skills?
EDIT: Also, I guess we're all part of the same Regiment? That means our group had to be merged together after a major battle or recruited individually since when a regiment is created it's drawn from a single planet (with reinforcements being done via mergers, in-regiment births, or recruiting on the regiment's own initiative). How does that work for us with a Vostroyan First Born? They're pretty much the only exceptions and bring planet-born reinforcements for the First Born regiment. One of the many clerical errors on the part of the Imperial bureaucracy?
Why yes, I have been reading up on the Imperial Guard for this.
