But seriously have ele/phants been tested yet for their combat /prowess? They seem unruly from... a little known story I read haha.

Are elephants even that vicious any more?  I read somehwere that they've become more docile, but it might be possible to return their bloodthirstyness through modding...and then you can mod it so that you can tame them.

If they could survive, they could be plenty vicious, because you could train them as war animals.  Wild elephants are certainly less aggressive than in the past.

A war elephant should be a pretty nasty opponent.  Sure, they'd die, but they can do a lot more than a war dog can.

Did an arena test with 10 elephants vs 20 dwarves with Cotton Candy Armour and Hammers.

End result dwarves got chewed up, digested and shat out by the elephants

There is not point - as grazers they will starve to death as they can not possibly eat enough to sustain themselves. The same applies to rhino's.

I have already removed quite a few animals grazer tag already so elephants need not fear starvation

Well after getting my self back on track and embarking on those elephants (literally they were right on top of my wagon on embark) to which was the shortest lived fort i have ever had, seems one of my Cave crocs i embarked with decide o bit the elephants leg and the rest is history.

Going for a reclaim to try and catch them

That sounds like they beat cave crocs!

I always embark with a breeding pair of Cave Crocodiles and in my experience Crocs typically win in one on one even against armored and armed enemies but their usually injured very badly. That's pretty serious because it's HELL trying to catch a bunch of them and it takes time for a egg clutch to hatch and reach maturity. That means if your going to use them try to overpower your enemy. I personally use them in my Fun Pit to deal with prisoners.

I usually place them at the bottom of a pit or in cages to make bombs out of them, but yes they are a bit of a time investment due to the time it takes to mature them.

I normally embark with 2 females and one male but only on eggbox thingy to go between them means i dont suffer from 100+ cave croc hatchlings murdering my fps

I have decided that i am now going to try and test as many animals as possible in one fort instead of re-embarking every time to test a new animal. progress will be slower but at least I can practice my fortress building skills
