If you consider grinding to be difficult
Sorry but...isn't grinding defined by being more time consuming than difficult?
Depends. You are a newbie. You want to make a bed. Yourself. From Scratch. Here's the Wurm Way.
First you cut down 1 tree with newbie axe and chop it into logs
Then you use a carving knife on a log to make a shaft
Then use carving knife on a shaft a few times to make a few handles.
Then you use a carving knife on a log to make kindling.
Then you use a flint and steel on kindling to make a campfire
Then you feed campfire up to 20kg of wood scraps or wood
(logs weigh up to 24kg, you can use more than 20kg if you want)
Then you mine some iron ore and melt it into iron lump in the campfire
(this gives you a quality reduction on the lump because campfires suck for melting)
Then you make a small anvil
Then you use lump on the anvil to make a chisel blade
Then you attach a handle to the blade. If you fail, start over with a new lump.
If you succeed, you can go on.
Use a newbie pick to mine rocks and a shovel to get clay.
Then you use a chisel on rocks to make bricks.
You then use clay and bricks to make a forge.
You then find more iron ore and melt it in the forge, then make both large and small nails.
Then you grab an axe and cut down a few trees and chop them into logs
Then you use a carving knife to make shafts and a saw to make planks from the logs.
Then you build a headboard from nails, shafts, and planks.
Then you build a footboard from nails, shafts, and planks.
Then you build a bed frame from nails, shafts, and planks.
Then you attach the headboard to the frame to make an unfinished bed
Then you attach the footboard to the unfinished bed.
Then you kill a bear or wolf and get a pelt from it.
Then you add 1KG of fur to the bed three times.
Then you harvest some cotton from your farm (cotton isn't an easy crop either)
Then you use a spindle on the cotton to make threads.
Then you make a loom from threads, planks, nails, and shafts.
Then you make squares of cloth from threads using the loom, and combine them.
Then you make a needle at the forge.
Then you make a sheet by using a needle on the combined squares of cloth.
Then you make a second sheet
Then you add both sheets to the bed.
Bed is finished. From beginning to end for a newbie character playing 8 hours a day, with no help, probably two full days to make a bed - IF they have a farm nearby where they can get lots of cotton from, and an existing iron vein. Otherwise counting time to dig out a mine and skill up farming and get enough cotton to make sheets (failing = rags which can't be recycled) probably two weeks.
