My framerate's crap, even on medium.  :<

Enjoying it, though.  Only got a little playtime in so far - a teeeeny bit of New Eden, haven't even left the first area.  I'm in big fat heavy armor, with the exploding sword (awesome) and the dual-pistols, for sword-gun combo, and the silenced sniper.  I'm REALLY slow, even with my 45-ish strength... and I am -so bad- at shooters my gun is more or less worthless.  But still, bunny-hop-stomp-clouds.  I hope to get cloak later - sneaky giant, like that Atlas in the MW5 trailer, and I'll presumably be able to get closer before they see me.

I can apparently make ghosts and a clonesquad (is there a way to make them use their sword-gun set?  They seem to only have the sniper rifle), so that's cool.  I also can't figure out how to heal, if there is one.  :\

(EDIT:  Hello new page!

The only thing I'm not so sure about is the whole aesthetics and setting.  I mean, a giant temple filled with dudes in power armor is what I think when I think 40K, not cyberpunk.  And the heavy armor even has that spiky halo thing...)

Research a medikit to get it in your armoury, then you will be able to heal.

If you cannot research, quit and re-enter the game, it's a bug.

My thoughts exactly Deon,

Hopefully we see some mods that help balance the stats side and possibly open up the game a little more,

I like the fact that all the weapons are good enough to kill most enemies. Even the basic knifeLIGHTNING EXPLOSION KATANA.

Did you know that the basic smg(not the stealth one) has an alt fire mode that doubles the rate of fire?

Yup. It's a reference to ghost in the shell.

This game is full of references to anime, shadowrun and certain books.

I played with a friend for 6 hours or so yesterday, had one of the crashing-at-loading bugs, [workaround is to disable ultra-violence[its a memory leaking in 32-bit systems involving gibbing]] they promised to fix it, and they seem quite active to admit the various bugs and try and fix them, so heres hoping bugfixing comes soon.
Still, even with the crashing [i only learned of the workaround today], it was quite fun.
There are a few other bugs that are annoying like non-hosts not being able to read conversation text and stuff..

But for all the bugs and issues, its still a much needed coop game thats really enjoyable to play with people...
Also, its very system-shock....
VERY system-shock...

And yea, one of the best parts of the game is how every weapon is still pretty powerful and 1 or a few good shots can take down everything [atleast so far]. Instead the enemies have to overwhelm you with good tactics, snipers, or mass-attacks.

You may be on the fence about whether to buy this, if so, i would suggest waiting until the first patch comes out, and see how enjoyable people feel it is then. [this is after all, still launch-week-ish].

Nah, the ultra armored Secreta people are hard to kill, even with shots on the face.

There are some horrible monsters later on too, but headshots on those work well.

I like it so far, I think it was worth the price. The only thing is that the advancement is a bit too slow if you just do the campaign and don't stop to multiplay or do area missions. If you want to rely on cyber, psi, or unlock new weapons, you really need to do those.

that first intro level is just the longest most boring thing I can remember playing. And then after that to have to walk around the base talking to people before getting out on a mission, meh.

Really? I didn't have much of a problem with it, as far as tutorial levels go. It briefly explains controls that you should already know, then it's like "Haha, by the way you already have a shitload of weapons at your disposal." Then you snipe some dudes, shoot a rat, shoot some dudes in a sewer, run around a bit, hack a door and it's over. I liked it. Running around the base afterwards was completely tedious though.

I'm a few missions in, rolled up a stealth/psi build but I'm not doing a whole lot of sneaking yet. Still really enjoying it. My impressions of the main pros and cons so far:
Text is too small, writing (or translation?) is poor, voice acting may as well be nonexistant. The voice acting thing only bothers me when someone (Mentor) is talking to you during a mission, without pausing gameplay, and you miss his lines because you're being attacked from 3 angles. Hope he's not saying anything important.
Visually the game is fantastic. I really just don't know how it manages to look so good on my unimpressive laptop. I am seriously impressed. Only a teensy bit of framerate-drop when there's a lot of action going on.
A little tweaking to the controls made them not awkward at all. Enter -> Alt and C -> Mouse Wheel Button, and I don't have any issues with controls. I don't know what they were thinking making the default action button Enter, though, on the other side of the keyboard from where your hand is supposed to be.
Combat is really tight and satisfying so far. Lots of fun switching from snipe to spray-and-pray and watching corpses pile up. Haven't tried many of the non-gunning-people-down mechanics, but they seem fleshed out enough to be useful later on.

So yeah, I'm happy with the purchase, hope I can put a few more hours in on my days off.

I'm playing a pure stealth char right now.

The cloak cyber is really cheap but other than that, you want to upgrade your legs as much as you can and invest on silenced weapons. The legs cyber is one of the most expensive to upgrade, which makes sense, since it makes a lot of vital mobility stats better and decreases the noise you make. You should be wearing light armor for less noise making and mostly you will either be sniping from really far away or running and gunning quickly.

I really like the silenced SMG, it's a great upgrade even for non-stealth characters for close quarters. Learning to use the ghost you start with really pays. You can get every single enemy to give you their backs and then you just rush in and slash them down.

I like this game. Also, supposedly there's a patch in the works. Yay!

Me, reusable, Twilight, and Charmander did some coop today, and we're always welcoming more.

Are enemies infinite in some areas?  I swear I killed so many of them in one area and I kept finding more.

They're infinite in every area. They spawn.

You can change the rate, level, and if they will despawn or not in the settings.

This game is impossible for me to wrap my head around. I haven't played much yet (I only now just arrived at the first 'place', poking around the archives) but damn, something about it all is hard to take in. Very surreal though. I like the way it feels.

Can anybody give me some advice for getting into it? Minor storyline spoilers or something? I don't quite grasp any of it yet.
