Houses will go down as foreclosures go up, rental prices will go up as ex-house owners start renting and demand outpaces supply. Rents had gotten ridiculously low (with all kinds of freebies thrown in to get people to sign a 1-year lease) before the housing bubble popped. They don't give out freebies anymore. And you're going to pay. Add several million more renters into the mix, and it'll go up even more.

Considering he's distanced himself in the past from the majority of folks on most "sides" that would be typically associated with someone of his set of beliefs, that was pretty uncalled for. Or even if he hasn't, that would still be pretty uncalled for. Insulting an overarching group ("side" in this case) is a blanket insult and we attempt to avoid those around here.

To be fair, they're not actively trying to destroy America - they're trying to destroy Obama and destroying the American and global economy as a side bonus.

It's near impossible to even find places for rent where I live.  We looked for months, and where we're currently living is literally the ONLY place we could find that wasn't either a broken down shithole or a massively overpriced, tiny apartment.  It's still massively overpriced, but at least it's not a tiny apartment.  It's hard to imagine it getting much worse.

I'm 16. If I were an adult, I'd be worried and doing stuff about it. As it is I make 7.50 an hour, so I really don't care about how it'll effect me, which I don't think will be that much.

I am tired of being a saint, turning the other cheek and getting slapped twice.

On rental prices: People who got foreclosed need to rent now increasing demand. Meanwhile the banks getting the houses are holding on to them, letting them sit empty until they can sell them if the economy improves so that they can make ludicrous profits instead of huge profits. Now people who have mortgages on property they rent out need to raise prices for increased costs. Combine all that and the cost of housing is going up and will go up far more when the economy tanks.

Okay, let me put this into perspective a bit.

Much of the world is a shithole. We don't live in a giant shithole, as shitty as it gets here in the US. I've seen some pretty shittacular things traveling around, and Buddha forbid I haven't even been to Africa. Perhaps the only fucked up places in the US that come close are like metropolitan Oakland, where just the other day a black Pastor in the process of donating food to the poor was shot in the head in front of his pregnant wife in a seemingly random drive-by shooting -which are too common around Oakland.
