He can issue an executive order, citing the 14th amendment as a defense. It may or may not be legal, but its all that can be done. I hope he is up for it, and willing to take the backlash.

If anything, this is what executive orders are for. If one part of congress wants to drive the economy into the ground for no good reason, the president should refuse them and make the increase happen anyway, then deal with the resulting problems later.

I like that system. I really do. I'm glad the president has some power to be all like, "NO", even if it gets him impeached.

This is my most recent facebook status, and the same goes for people here, I am speaking out, will you?: Ok everybody. The US senate has failed in its service to our nation. The only thing that can be done now is for Obama to issue an executive order to raise the debt limit citing the 14th amendment. I urge everyone to email or call their representative and the white house and let them know that allowing the nation to falter and decline into a third world backwater is not an option.
