Magic the Gathering: BattleTech Edition(UPDATE!)
« on: July 26, 2011, 11:43:07 am »

So, I got bored, decided to boot up this neat program, and begin making some cards from the BattleTech Universe, and I kinda thought the B12 forums would be pretty interested in what I'm doing.

The program I'm using is Magic Set Editor (http://magicseteditor.sourceforge.net/), it's a neat program that let's you make your own cards, as I have said before. It allows me to use the old card templates (Before 8th edition) and the modern templates(After 8th edition) and you can choose what what colors to play(I was going to use C-bills, but it won't let me just use letters and number normally, just the 1st letter of a color, like Black).

Here is a card I finished up on:

OPEN TO SUGGESTIONS

I'm also creating special pilots. If you want your own pilot, please leave a name, image and whatever bonuses you want, including a 'Mech Proficiency(Light, Medium, Heavy, Assault).

List of Abbreviations:
AC= AutoCannon
LRM= Long-Range Missile
UbM= UrbanMech
MC= Mad Cat

TO-DO LIST:

Weapon cards(Possibly add restrictions, like what type of mech can equip, number of weapons can be equipped on 'Mech, etc.)
Pilots
Turrets
More C-bill cards

UPDATE 7/30/11

-Added UrbanMech(Light Inner Sphere 'Mech)
-Added AC and LRM# cards

So basically all Mechs have defender unless a Pilot (equipment) is equipped onto them?

Yes. Think of a 'Mech with an automated defence system when there is no pilot and is pretty much a more powerful turret.

This is the bottom of the post. Reading beyond this point is pointless. Seriously why are you still reading? Am I the last post on this thread or something? Then you should be replying instead of reading this! ....still reading? You were that baby who fell during that cave in weren't you? (sigh) Seriously, stop reading and start replying or move onto the next post. There is NOTHING of interest here... except the secret easter egg of <classified>. Pretty awesome huh? NOW MOVE ON ALREADY!!!

Alexis Skorzy- callsign 'Gnome'
-Clan
-Light mech specialist
-Jumpjet skill
-Prefers medium autogun/short range balistic weapons

-mercenary/raider
------

't would be nice to have weapon 'enchantment' cards
as well as Mech maintenance bay resource cards,
dropships, etc.

So, the player is like a mech commander? :)

edit:
wouldnt it be more logical though to link pilots to a fixed mech and upgrade these with skills and components? or maybe have a pilot in several types of mech and allow only one in play.
Gnome prefers the Uller J with dual autogun and a bank of clan light lasers as fallback.

Yes.

Also, do you have an image, maybe? If not, I can always find one you might like.

An image...uh, not really...
You'd have to edit a helmet etc. yourself on it anyhow, because my desktop is currently burried under a pile of financial papers and stuff...:(

A beard of several days, dark haired, broad grin maybe. kinda like the aquizzar avatar actually hehe, but less Punisher-esque.

Alright, thanks for the pilot info, Areyar, hopefully once I get some images for them, they will be completed.

Would scans of the Mechwarrior CCG help?
I know I must have a small collection somewhere...I could scan them at work.
Not sure about the copyright issues there though... will it be okay as long as you don't try to sell this very similar game or will copying the art online be enough to trigger angry lawyers?

As far as I know with copyright issues, if you sell something without permission of the copyright owner, it's considered infringment. Once I get a complete set which in my perspective is about 40-55 cards, I'll probrably make that into a set, and probrably create some booster packs. Which I won't sell, of course.

This is a very usefull site for info and images:
http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Main_Page

for instance when you look at the Executioner mech:

Notable pilot:
    * Vlad Ward used Executioner with twin Gauss Rifle, two Large Lasers and four Medium Pulse Lasers[3]
image:

Fast and powerful, the Executioner, known as the Gladiator in the Inner Sphere, is an assault OmniMech often deployed by Clan Ghost Bear.
Assault mech, long range
35.7M-Cbills
95Tonnes
65 Km/hr
Jumpjets
Ferro-fibrous armour

Vlad of the Wards, later Khan Vladimir Ward (trueborn 3026[1]), was a staunch Crusader and Khan of the reborn Clan Wolf.

I actually am using the BattleTech wiki, but it would mainly be only for things I don't know/remembered.

I tried to put in his info, but it seems his use with Banshee's cut it out. I'll see what I can do to fix that issue.

Also, if you don't understand what the +3/+3/+3 means, it's Power/Armor/Speed. Power is used to represent how much damage your 'Mech does, without any bonuses, Armor is how much of a hit you can take before you get destroyed(Though can you eject early out of your 'Mech to save your pilot for future turns) and speed determines "ambushes", in which you would need to have at least 2 more points of speed than the enemy 'Mech does in power and you would have to be in a defence position to attempt an ambush.
