We should check our surroundings for anything interesting. If the heavy footstepping, ragged breathing is from that monstrosity, we should be fine since the cave opening is so small. If we're attacking, we just use something to cut off its legs.

Maybe stab it with the knife?

We can try and see if the cave material towards the back of the cave (since we don't want to mess with the entrance) is useful. If it is, we should make a spear or something, since we're full up on PP.

Gripping your knife in your right hand, you back up to the rear of the cave, preparing to fashion s weapon out of whatever's in the rockOW GOD WHY

The instant you try to use your alchemy on the rock, a searing pain lances through your arm. You feel weaker, and the wall remains undamaged.
-6 HP
-8 PP

Letting your arm hang limp, you decide to just go investigate the noises. You sloooooooowly lean out of the cavern opening and holy crap it's Laureli.

You quickly drag her inside and check her wounds. She's still breathing, but her right arm is bent at an unnatural angle, there are stab wounds in her legs and large shards of bone are lodged in her back. She's not bleeding much - this could either be a good thing or a very bad thing. She has a lot of pouches under her cloak - one of them might have some sort of first aid kit or something inside. What do?

You check all of her pockets. Your findings are:
-A cellphone with a shattered screen
-About 60 small throwing knives
-Something labelled "Emergency Rations" (it smells absolutely vile)
-Handcuffs with a fingerprint lock
-A vial of silvery liquid
-Five pills - one white, one blue, two red, one black

What do you do now?

Wooo, emergency first aid. Clean wounds with the water we have if the water is clean. If the water is not clean, pull some from the air (pretty sure that'd be sterile, right?).

Um, I understand we have some power over the molecules nearby. What are the chances we could slow them down and create ice with the water? I'd assume low since the character probably knows nothing of thermodynamics.

Tear a piece of fabric from our shredded cloak and fashion a sling for her arm.

Attempt to determine whether the bones in her back are from the bone yard or from her skeleton without removing them. Attempt to determine how deep they are.

Grab some throwing knives and put them in your belt or whatever in case you need them to defend yourself.

I'll let someone else decide if gambling with those pills and the vial is a good idea or no.

Yeah, good idea. If we have any extra, try and let her drink some as well. I get the idea that the boneyard is pretty arid.

NEGATIVE. Let's not push ourselves into a coma or kill ourselves by using our powers! We just lost the use of one of our arms because our powers stopped working! It was probably something Laureli did.

I really doubt we have that sort of control over it, and if we did it would be very indirect (like exposing two elements to one another for a process that sucks heat from the surrounding air). Even so, again, our powers are not working right now.

Agreed.

She was walking just a bit ago, so she might be lapsing in and out of consciousness. Alternatively, the heavy breathing was her but the footsteps were not, so LISTEN FOR FOOTSTEPS, because if there's someone else we need to figure something out fast.

If it was her, try and see if we can get any response out of her about the pills and the vials or if she knows of any way to heal her.

I figured that we couldn't use alchemy on the red stone specifically but I suppose not being able to use alchemy at all makes sense too.

I mostly saw the problem with the alchemical cooling being that there's no way she would know that thermal energy is caused by movement of molecules at a scale she'd never see. For a loooong loong time, people thought heat was caused by an invisible liquid called 'caloric'.

I agree with the stuff you added, too. Looks like we're doing a lot this turn : |

Oh god oh god oh god. Okay. Calm. Calm. first aid. Let's see now.
Wooo, emergency first aid. Clean wounds with the water we have if the water is clean. If the water is not clean, pull some from the air (pretty sure that'd be sterile, right?).
You unscrew the cap on your water canister and taste a little. Tastes pretty clean. You set to work washing out the wounds.

By the time you finish you've used up about three quarters of your water and the cavern smells like blood.
-700mL Water

Um, I understand we have some power over the molecules nearby. What are the chances we could slow them down and create ice with the water? I'd assume low since the character probably knows nothing of thermodynamics.
You try and freeze the moisture in the air. You end up with a headache, but it does feel a little colder. Maybe. Possibly. It's hard to tell when it's already cold as fuck.

Quote
Tear a piece of fabric from our shredded cloak and fashion a sling for her arm.
Your cloak is shredded. As in full of holes and about a foot long. You tear off a piece of Laureli's cloak instead.

Quote
Attempt to determine whether the bones in her back are from the bone yard or from her skeleton without removing them. Attempt to determine how deep they are.
Trying to be as gentle as possible, you press down on the lumps in the skin where the bones have gone under. Laureli hisses in pain - she seems to at least be partially conscious - but you can tell that the bones aren't hers, and they're not deep enough to have hit anything vital.

You prop her up against the wall, taking care to avoid contact between wall and bone.

Quote
Grab some throwing knives and put them in your belt or whatever in case you need them to defend yourself.
You borrow a few throwing knives.
Obtained: 15 Throwing Knives
Wooo, emergency first aid. Clean wounds with the water we have if the water is clean.

Yeah, good idea. If we have any extra, try and let her drink some as well. I get the idea that the boneyard is pretty arid.
You'll save the water for when she wakes up enough to drink on her own.

Quote
She was walking just a bit ago, so she might be lapsing in and out of consciousness. Alternatively, the heavy breathing was her but the footsteps were not, so LISTEN FOR FOOTSTEPS, because if there's someone else we need to figure something out fast.

You listen carefully, but you can't hear anything outside. At all, in fact. It's completely and utterly silent.

You take a look outside. Sand and tall, spiky rocks. Really tall. Like twenty feet. And it's also completely dark - you can't even see the moons for some reason. The stars are still out, though, and they're almost bright enough to see by. Weird.

Quote
If it was her, try and see if we can get any response out of her about the pills and the vials or if she knows of any way to heal her.

You head back inside and try to wake Laureli up. She mumbles something, but you can't quite make it out. Something that sounded like 'r'? Or 'w'? Or 'l', maybe? You can't tell.
