As far as I know the suck blood thing drains extra blood from the target creature and gives it to the using creature.  Either replenishing their own blood supply or feeding them.  But It's not well documented, and very few creatures actually use it.

Yeah, nobody outside of Toady himself seems to know exactly what the hell it does.

regardless, the slime shooter will be completed, come hell or high water, which are both entirely plausible setbacks at this point.

Maybe it puts the prey one step closer to death via loss of blood and vice versa for the blood sucker.

I'm pretty sure it just removes a small amount of blood from the victim, reduces the attacker's hunger to 0, and adds the event to the combat log.  Those are the things that would make sense, but I don't know for certain.

I heard that the blooc sucking creature can lose horrid amounts of blood and not die if it can suck replacement blood from some poor guy.

This pure mountain spring water is indispensable. Literally. I'm out of paper cups.

I'm pretty sure it causes the attackee to lose energy and become progressively more tired. Never the point of dying, as far as I have seen.

It's VERY possible that Toady has already factored exhaustion rate based on how much blood was lost, so the bloodsucking could just remove a quantity of blood and let things happen on their own.
