What about that guy born 600 years later? Maybe the radiation fucks up out bodies and makes us immortal?

ERROR RIPOFF OF FALLOUT DETECTED. NO SUCH THING AS "Vault XX" IN CURRENT UNIVERSE. CHOOSING MOST INTERESTING EXAMPLE...

Time: 2611, January 24th. The Noon Of The Ninetieth Sun.

You are Joshua Cernson. You are part of a tribe that is based around a chapel in the ruins of what used to be called Newgate, as told by the ancient texts. Newgate was not struck by the Second Sun that was created by mankind, but it still collapsed. You are an orphan, but you believe that doesn't matter since you were raised by the high priest, and will be his successor. You are about six years old now, and you are currently in the ruined bedroom of your abode. The holes in the walls are replaced with tapestries showing your tribe's victories and legends of an earlier time. You are currently wearing a tribal outfit, since you are not a High Priest just yet. Your shotgun lies on the ruined desk, with the buckshot for it next to it. Your ritual knife is embedded into the wall, thanks to a contest you gave yourself to pass the time. You wanted to see how far you could embed it into the wall.

It is time for your maturation. To be a true High Priest, you must understand the world around you. You have been kept up in this house for your entire life, and now you must go out and experience the world. If you were a normal child, you would be expected to go out into the wilderness and kill a mutant. Now...

Grab the knife, shotgun, load it up, and walk out the door.

“Well,” he said. “We’re in the Forgotten hunting grounds I take it. Your screams just woke them up early. Congratulations, Lyara.”
“Do something!” she whispered, trying to keep her sight on all of them at once.
Basileus clapped his hands once. The Forgotten took a step forward, attracted by the sound.
“There, I did something. I clapped. I like clapping,” he said. -The Investigator And The Case Of The Missing Brain.

Take the closest gun, leave through the closest door, shoot the closest mutant, kill anyone that gets in the way.

Spoiler: INVENTORY: (click to show/hide)

You grab your weapons, then you decide to see the history of your tribe before you mature. It begins with man creating the second sun as a weapon. They unleash it, which destroys most of humanity including the chosen. The chosen crawl to their tombs, where they die. The chosen rise from their tomb and rebuild. Fighting off against the mutants, the chosen become the Disciples of a Thousand Suns. From then on, it's just legends of victory and woe which you imagined while going to sleep.

You walk out the door into the hallway of the house. Most of the other parts of the house are pretty much ruined, so you mainly wander through the main hall of the house and your room. There aren't as many tapestries here, but they are equally as beautiful as the ones in your room. You consider going out the door and killing the nearest mutant, while killing everyone else that gets in your way, but that isn't really what you would call High Priestly. Also, they all have guns that they can use better then yours.

Sneak out, kill the nearest mutant, then sneak in. All while ignoring your concience and all rational thought.

Spoiler: INVENTORY: (click to show/hide)

You don't really know many chants. Training comes after maturation. Another thought comes into your head about killing the nearest mutant, but that'd be you, actually. It's been 600 years after the Second Sun and there isn't any pure gene stock. In fact, tribes have become known for their most common mutation. Your tribe is known for the fact their skins occasionally glow, which the Disciples agree to be a side effect of worshiping the sun. Mutants are essentially feral versions of normal mutants. Your tribe once traded with a well-educated traveler. You and your dad both went to deal with the trading process, and you heard that the old man used to be called Homo Sapiens, and now they are Homo Mutatio, which is currently the entire population of the Earth.

Let's go scrape some fungi off rocks, eat it, and wait for a vision from the Sun to tell us what to do next.

You scrap some fungi off one of the rocks, and you eat it. Congratulations, you learned that eating fungi kills you. Restarting character creation...
