Sapphires and urbiesrubies (wtf is an urbie)? Sweet!
EDIT: I still mandate the seizing off all the goods the elves bring in. Besides, we can probably take 'em. Eventually. Right?

18th Hematite

I sent Yagor to trade with the elves. The way she disemboweled them was strangely arousing...

OOC: I think I'm done for the day, going to pick up where I left tomorrow.

Sign me up for a turn please.  And dwarf me as Pisano with a mason if/when one is available.  Thanks.

You have no idea... the funny thing is their personalities are almost exact opposites.

Unfortunately I'm feeling under the weather today so I might not be able to get through as far as I wanted.

14th Hematite

I have ordered the stockpiles to be relocated behind our new workshops. The food can stay where it is, and I have ordered a hallway dug out from the new main stairway to the food stockpiles. In addition, a barracks is under construction next to the trade depot. I am considering setting Drak and Yagor as captains of their own squads, over fresh new recruits. That is, after iron production has begun.

1st Malachite

Migrants! 8 of them. Our population is now at 44, a magical number in my opinion. I heard one of the masons say her name was Pisano, an odd name perhaps but she seems of good character. The mountainhome commonly assigns such names to those they send as overseers. I must watch her to see if she is up for the task.

3rd Malachite

The dining hall is now suited for use, though it is not yet smooth.

OOC: Uh, Drakon, why is there a stone stockpile next to your room?

Stone stockpile? Can't remember there being one. Can you post a pic of it?

I removed it but it was in the room next to yours.

24th Malachite

Well, it seems my prediction about Pisano was correct. Not a few weeks after she arrived, she began a construction that I am sure will rival the artifacts of the mountainhomes. She grabbed kaolinite, willow logs, iron fresh off the forges, and rough sapphires from the mines. I can't wait.

3rd Galena

It's beautiful! A weapon rack completely encrusted in sapphire, with spirals of hanging rings of iron surrounding two perfect circles of koalinite. Pisano is changed now, it would seem. She works with stone effortlessly, creating beautiful works of art in the time it would take for me to tie my shoes. I have ordered the Mason's workshop to be reserved for her and her alone. As for the weapon rack itself? Well...

6th Galena

This weapon rack has inspired me. The forges have been dug out, now all we need to do is...

FUCK. No anvil. I guess we're boned then? Ah well, Drak and Yagor have taken to wearing the wooden armor we traded from the elves anyways. I confronted them about it and they told me some armor was better than none. "You know nothing, Carpman," whispered Yagor in my ear before she tumbled away to spar.

13th Galena

Found the anvil. Now I feel stupid.

17th Galena

The humans came to trade today. I gave them two full rope reed outfits that we traded from the elves. Buy low, sell high, that's my motto.

2nd Limestone

I have chosen an enerprising young chap by the name of Slidesyrup to head our new squad, the Decency of picks. He will begin training with the crossbow and pass on his newly gained skills to new recruits. We also have a shortbow we traded from the elves, along with many arrows. I am considering putting them to good use in the hands of some other recruit.

17th Limestone

The well is running and the forges are clanking, courtesy of Spizhaben. He is churning out breastplates, gauntlets, shields and helms for our brave warriors, tools that will help them protect this fortress from evil. In addition, I have given the bow to a fish cleaner who was once a part time hunter. She says she is well aware o the elves's tricks and has fought against them numerous times.

Given that vacancy exists, I can claim it for now... I know I am late to the party.
May I have a dwarf named Flandre? She wants to be a bookkeeper, but would settle for any non-military profession.

You should neither feel groggy, or so much in pain that it distracts you. Anesthesia in the mouth is quite annoying, though. I would not recommend eating-- your teeth feel alien, you run the risk of biting your tongue, and you will not have much in the way of motor control (which makes any attempt to work your mouth look dumb).
Luckily for you, Dwarf Fortress requires none of these things!
