Downloading the wiki
« on: July 23, 2011, 08:21:45 am »

Any chance of being able to do it? :P

Spent an internetless week playing dwarf fortress, and the lack of the wiki was rather palpable - Getting an offline copy would be quite useful!

A dwarf is nothing but an alcohol fuelled beard with the IQ of a parsnip, and that's insulting to the parsnips.

I don't know about downloading the entire wiki, however many web browsers (I know that at least Safari and Firefox can) do have a "save as" or "web archive" (something like that) in their menu bars. This then allows you to save pages to your computer in order to access them regardless of whether or not you have internet.

It would be brutally difficult and probably won't work. In other words, it's absolutely dwarven!
Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead - A fun zombie survival rougelike that I'm dev-ing for.

Maybe I'm reading it wrong (it's been a long day here) but wouldn't that save that one page only?

Yeah, that would only save the one page - I bring up downloading the entire wiki, as I think i remember reading about the entirity of wikipedia being downloadable for remote areas...

Failing that, a compiled pdf of the wiki would be quite sweet
