I think Tropico is a pretty cool guy. Eh shots rebels and doesnt afraid of anything.

I was going to say Tropico is the name of the island, not the name of the President...but considering how the campaign have you hop across multiple islands (many of which outright are not called Tropico) and that there are loads of randomly generated islands out there...

I'm going to name my next Presidente "Tropico", and have him name his island dictatorship after himself.

That's the original format of the meme, actually. You don't actually use the name of the thing you're referring to, merely something related to them.

Indeed. Started with Halo iirc. "I think Halo is a pretty cool guy. Eh kills aleins and doesnt afraid of anything."

In more related news, I had a lot of fun running a military dictatorship for the first time. Deny all elections, crank up security and build guard posts and armories all over. Lure the rebels out and kill them. Deny all emigration so nobody gets out alive! Minimum pay for all jobs, just enough for the people to afford the rent on the meagre housing. You need a lot of police and soldiers, and you need to pay the police/soldiers very well. Nobody will be happy, but who cares? If they speak up, shoot them.

Very important is to establish a secret police early on and eliminate troublemakers quietly, or reeducate them in one of the state's many fine prison mental health dungeons facilities.

I just bought the game, the disc version, not online, it's taking a really long time to load, and failed once.

Just want to see if my purchase was worth it.  Can any of you guys give me a clear review?

It's a great game with high replayability. It's not a huge improvement over 3, but it does change the mechanics quite a bit. The graphics are very nice and imho it's the best game of it's genre at the moment.

By the way, I love plantations. LOVE em. Its in the new DLC, and while I dislike that its a DLC I do love the building. Much superior to farms, though they can only grow cash crops.

I want to love them, but I refuse to pay 5 bucks for DLC with so little content.

I really don't understand this type of DLC strategy. They release content that's desirable, but in a very small quantity, and charge a lot for it. Are they not even trying to give customers value? If it was 2 bucks for what's included I might buy it, if it was 1 buck I would definitely buy it.

I want to see 10 DLC packs just like this for 10 bucks for the package. Who wouldn't buy that? There's so many opportunities with games like this to make supplemental income on DLC and it's completely going to waste at the value proposition they are attempting to make. I refuse to believe they can't make more money buy churning out this stuff for less, there's just no way.

I'm ready to give them money, they just are not willing to offer me a product that matches it. =(

I hate to necro, but I hate duplicate threads more.

Just got the game, and am loving it. But as I am playing, the games crashes more and more often. Finally, I've gotten to the point where if I place one more building, it crashes. I haven't even been playing that much. It's the industry map of the campaign. Does anyone know if this is a memory issue?

If you're running XP, or have a tiny amount of RAM, you're going to run into that. Try lowering your settings and see if that helps.

If you're running XP you should not have problems.

I'm running windows 7, and it's not a graphics or performance problem. I also have a TON of extra ram.

64-bit Win7? Your extra RAM is moot otherwise.

Yes 64 bit windows 7. Is it that bad? I know windows XP is better but they don't really make them anymore  :(

It's the memory requirements. You can disable the Windows Aero Desktop to get some of that memory back.

No, 32-bit Win7 is debatebly worse, it caps at 3GB RAM. Otherwise ningin is right.
