It's out? I've just been on the steam website and it says 1st September?

Ah right.

If anyone is buying off Steam and in the UK:

http://www.shopto.net/DOWNLOAD/VIDEO%20GAMES/DWNLD27072-Tropico%204.html

They send you a code to register on steam, bang, a tenner off the price.

I got my preorder copy essentially free due to a glitch in a steam sale which has been since pulled from the store. :P

Being nice doesn't pay.

No, I pay, and get to play later than the pirates :(

I don't feel terribly bad about getting the leaked copy since I already have a legit preorder so they didn't lose a sale and the DRM is circumvented entirely if you just block the program from connecting to the internet (which takes about 15 seconds in windows firewall)

Yeah, but still. It's not an attack on the pirates (that would be very hypocritical of me :P), but this... sidestep of mine into the world of legal games isn't exactly positive.

Like, when you watch a real bought DVD, you have these unskippable antipiracydisclaimerwarnings etc in the beginning, that you have to wait for Every Single Time.
If this is how common people use media, I'll pass and come back later.

It is kind of annoying. In their zeal for anti-piracy measures they make paying customers regret buying their product and want to use pirated content instead because it is more pleasant to use.

I can't add much because I haven't played any Tropico games since the first one, but I just played through the demo and was surprised at how fun it was.  I'll probably end up buying this.

I'm in the States, Briggsy, but can I still take advantage of that sale?

I don't know mate, you'd have to have google or look around their site or contact their support team.

I guess the question is, is an american cd-key different to an eu cd-key?

Slightly related, but yesterday I saw a news blurb somewhere that said PopTop(who made the original Tropico) got bought out by EA.

Part of my soul died.
And I was going to consider buying this. :(

Has PopTop even made anything good since 2003?

This has nothing at all to do with Tropico 4...

Plus, plenty of developers have made good games under the yolk of E.A.
