Uhm, so I checked out the demo and...is it just me or is it basically just Tropico 3 with a slightly better UI? I played the demo for about 40 minutes just now and what I saw of the demo doesn't show off any changes that, to me, would justify paying £30 for it instead of just buying Tropico 3 Gold off steam for a lot less than that...I mean, don't get me wrong it was a very fun 40 minutes, but Tropico 3 was a fun game too.
I noticed a couple new things. The new world powers of the EU, China and the Middle East seem cool. I hope there's a chance for the USSR to win the Cold War, that would be neat. The new trading system is cool, with prices actually rising and falling according to supply and demand.
The missions and blueprints aspect modernizes the game alot, adding a gratification system to the player, adding a feeling of progression. However I don't like the loss of difficulty given by the missions. They basicly give you free money...
Oh and two awesome things happened as I played through the demo. A tornado struck and started ripping up trees, cars and houses and carrying them into the sky. That was awesome. Plus they added a rebuild button above the rubble of destroyed buildings so you don't have to guess to figure out what was destroyed
The second awesome thing is I got the message, "Pedro MacTopican has turned into a criminal." This changed the tropicans profession to criminal and she procided to run around with a pistol mugging people and occasionally murdering them. Eventully I sent the army after her, and they killed her in the street, lowering stability. But the demo mission was really easy so it didn't really matter.
Overall I'm pretty cyked for this game and will totally preorder it, but then again, Tropico is one of my favourite commercial games so I'm probably pretty biased
Anyway's I'll probably have a copy of Tropico Reloaded (the original 2) to give away because I already own them...unless one of my friends wants it then I'll give it away on Bay 12.
