Two years later, a skeleton is found slumped over a laptop. Investigators say that the man starved to death, a symptom of waiting for weeks on end for savolainen5 to update.  :P

just fooling around.

Damn, I had half of it written, then accidentally closed the window in my sleep-deprived state!  Whatever, I can rewrite it.  It just won't be exact and perfect.

(ooc) Guess it's time to make an entrance for myself

Journal of HighZealot: Late Winter

The vault is now a day away. But first, I must make myself look like a migrant. Hopefully, the dwellers won't be suspicious of me when I become overseer at new years. Yup, I brute forced my way into putting my self next in line for overseer. It took most of the year to brute force but it was done. I've noticed that the last overseer was marked "skipped" yet had records of events of the current year while the current overseer had different events. There is something going one here and I question whether or not I should have come here. Well, I've already come this far so into the dragon's den I go.

Savs' Overseer Journal

10 Moonstone

Got thirsty t'day 'n' wen' on down t' look fer some booze. Turns out we're out. I made some real quick fer meself, but now I think o' it, guess lotsa people been complainin' they're thirsty 'n' whatnot. Guess I oughta ramp up production o' th' booze.

15 Moonstone

T'day Jimlad came a'runnin' up t' my office 'n' said he foun' a body i' th' mines. Said 't looked a lot like Vance. It's awful, bu' these're strange times, I guess. Maybe twins?  I wen' an' looked fer myself, and he's right, they look a lot alike.

16 Moonstone

I was gonn' go ask Vance 'bout the body, bu' Tyris stopped me 'n' said she had some inf'rmation.  Sh' took me t' my office 'n' said a few months back sh' gotta message which she descripted or summin' to get its meaning. The message said tha' Vance's a clone an' the stairs t' th' cavern oughta b' buil--  Uh oh.

Well, guess someun's after us. I'll get Bowie t' look into it, but I dunno if we gonn' get any progress.

20 Moonstone

Guess tha' poor Red Shirt fool finally died t'day. I' th' confusion 'n' thirst, guess other folks forgot t' make sure he was drinkin'.  He'll be missed.

4 Opal

Another death!

This feller was sane, though.  This's 'n emergency. We gotta get some booze here, 'cause th' people ain't drinking no water, I guess.

6 Opal

Two more? Awful...

This's gettin' outter hand...

An' best o' all, Jimlad d'cides t' have a party.

8 Opal

One o' our riflewomen died...  Better get 'nother trainin'.

18 Opal

Some mason o' our wen' an' locked 'imself in a shop with some galena.  He ain't gonn' find no water in the rocks 'round here, though 'e looked a bit parched.

23 Opal

Th' miners were runnin' like scaredy cats 'cause they heard some sounds down in th' cavern. Whatever it is, hope it don't come up this way...

1 Obsidian

Tha' mason's done.

Right nice, huh?  I gotta find a good place fer it.

12 Obisidan

Our liaison showed up t'day wi' th' caravan.  Lessee what we c'n trade 'em...

15 Obisdian

T'day I met wi' th' liaison. Firs' thin' 'e sai' t' me was some'in 'bout rewards 'n' sucess 'n' such. He tol' me t' pick someon' t' be th' new big guy in th' vault. I jus' chose some random feller. I also asked fer wood, some weapons, seeds, plants, an' meat. I better have lots t' trade when they come next winter...

16 Obsidian

Th' caravan never done made it int' th' vault. Can't send out scouts now. Gonn' have t' wait.

23 Obsidian

Tarnation, 't's jus' one thin' after 'nother. Now I guess th' one who built th' stairs gone done sa'otaged our goddarn well. There ain't much water left in there.

28 Obsidian

Tyris tol' me tha' I'd getta message t'day on my overseer's console.  She was right.  My time's done. Gotta prepare a mock election, whatever tha' is, and get the next overseer elected 'n' introduced.  So I gotta go get all tha' straightened out.
I guess I c'n be proud t' say I got Th' Orders done with.

---------------
Some notes:
-I apologise again for the delay. May no one else follow in my footsteps in this way.
-Amazingly, the FB didn't go up the stairs. Well, actually, it's because the stairs aren't connected all the way to the ground... yet.
-I've seen some CRAZY creatures down there! Land Carp, Sentient fungus, etc.  It's gonna be fun to finally get into the cavern.
-The save can be found here. Good luck, highzealot!

"So I have this pathetic male body...a couple of insane humans...*shutters*...and to make matters worse, my previous host was a person standing not even two feet away from my new one. WHY DO 'MY' BODIES KEEP DYING?! My old host was apparently called Vance Mcneelee...good thing I'm good at cloning, because he's dead. Damn those crazy scientists for turning me into what I am now: a specter. I still have my old orders...if I can EVER complete them, then I can finally pass on! I MUST FOLLOW MY ORDERS! DESTROY THE BARRICADES! BUILD THE STAIRS!!!!! EAT A CAT!!!!!!!!!  AHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!! LET ALL HELL BREAK LOSE!!!!!!! AHHAHAHAHAHA!

Journal of HighZealot
1st Granite
Well after arriving, I was shortly made overseer in some “election.”  I’m not sure if Savs knows what an election is let alone a mock one. Well let’s look around a bit. I notice my office is quite small.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Our food and drinks don’t seem too bad despite what I’ve been told. First order of business, snooping around Savs’ journal.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

2nd Granite
It appears there are two Vances. Now I was hoping to find someone I can trust but it seems likely the true Vance is dead now. I do manage to check his pip-boy. I’m sure he won’t mind if I saw his arm off. It appears that RabidAnubis is the cause of death. I gotta watch out for him and the other Vance. Now I regret  now bringing backup with me. Well time to actually work. First of all, we need more stills. Well more like we need a still since we have none. I have two stills built. Along with that some buckets, bins and a barrel.

4th Granite
There be creatures in the deep. They appear harmless but they’re scaring the workers who need to get down there. Shotgunners, KILL IT!

7th Granite
There’s some sort of monster down there. Good, we have way too many shotgun shells. What’s this? We’re now a barony? WHO MADE LACINIAVOX THE BARON!?! AND I CAN’T REPLACE HIM WITH MYSELF? Now this is why I’ve destroyed many towns and vaults. Because some idiot decided their leader was not to be the baron. I ain’t giving him the rooms he want

9th Granite
The beast is dead but it burned some guys. The shotgunners didn’t get any action either. FUCK. Wait, I think they’re fine but we still have too many shotgun shells!

12th Granite
Well everything down there is burning. No one is down there though so it’s pretty harm less.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Bah, we’re out of logs. I plan to open it up next season to get some more wood. For now, I’ve go- what’s this, orders?

(ooc:Things appear to be going well so far. The forgotten beast's fire was quite harmless but it didn't attack until I told the shotgunners to get closer on the other side of the lake and when they got out of view, it attacked the melee guys.)

Journal of HighZealot

12th Granite
Well it appears the order is being downloaded but rather slowly.

17th Granite
Now that the cavern’s fire has moved far for the stairwell, I think it’s time to explore.

25th Granite
When I first heard of land carp I assumed they lived above ground and not down there. Well they should go down quite easy. However the Gloomapeck may not. Oh never mind, the carp killed someone. A swordsman along with Bowie, the chief of security. CURSE THE CARP! It seems his wife is still ecstatic though.

26th Granite
OH GOD, THE GLOOMAPECK HAS STRUCK DOWN 2 OF MY MEN! Goodbye Paul the axeman. I now know why we fear the underworld. Thankfully, while some are unhappy, no one is the verge of madness. Say hello to Conmittoalo the Gloomapeck and Bibofinis the land carp.

1st Slate
In only one month, our population has gone down to 28. I still wanna kill the baron despite the fact we need to keep as many people as we can alive. I get a nurse, planter and weaver to get training now.

6th Slate
The baron and his mandates get on my nerves so much.

13th Slate
I have some rock pots made to hold some food and drinks. Also, I took a look at the carp and it looks like they’ve been through the FEV process. Seems recent too. Someone, somewhere is after us. And are my fucking orders downloaded yet!

(ooc: Damn caverns are tougher than I thought. Not the first time I underestimated the forces of corrosion. Thankfully, people aren't too unhappy yet)
