It's hard to concentrate on science when you're surrounded by exploding cats.

If brown recluse spiders live in temperate forests, how come I only see their webs in tropical biomes?

The thing is, normally the spider overrides the web in the Omnipresent Overseer Chemtm. Thus, you can only see the web in tropical biomes where the spider has evaporated.

Every trade agreement would have elf skull totems at highest priority.

Why is everything remotely feminine disparaged as being for tree-hugging elves?

It's because elven society just happens to be matriarchal. where as dwarves have mastered gender equality, their godlike overseers cannot bear any reminder of elvenkind and thus enforce a rigid masculinity.

Why do humans fold so easily to demonic forces?

You'd be surprised what people will agree to when you promise clean public restrooms.

Why can't you train dogs to herd your livestock or sniff out lawbreakers?

Because live stock in this game is much closer to wild (and in some cases is just trained wild) breeds that are far more agressive than the docile ones we have now. Also drugs are, as far as I can tell, legal in DF so there is nothing for them to sniff out especialy since all dwarves smell the same: booze, miasma, dirt, and ash

Why are dwarves so unstable?

Fueled by caffeine, nicotine, and a surprisingly low will to live.

Because of the way their skull is designed: It encapsulates the two sides in bone; the irrational emotional side is given much more room to grow, more than half of the skull, and the rational half is much more stunted. Basically the brain is split into two, big irrational side, tiny rational side.

TL;DR: Dwarves are stupid.

If dwarves are so liquored up all the time, how come they manage to create masterwork platinum figurines?

I just have this terrible mental picture of this beet-looking thing bursting out of someone's stomach and being like "Neeeeed phosphaaaaates"
If it's magma resistant, mod it so it's not!

The more correct question is how do humans manage to do anything without the wonderful mental stimulant that is booze.

Why are replica butterfly knives so darn fascinating to play with?

Because you can use them to cut up replica butterflies - it's the cruelty-free alternative.

Currently?  The toad flees in terror.  One day though, Toads will kiss back with their sticky tongues.

Because dwarves prefer magma over gunpowder.

Why do some dwarves hate industry and like trees?

Possible elf exposure. So obviously such dwarves need to be sent against the tree lovers to show them how horrible nature really is.

The dwarves and elves and humans and other races look into the sky too see a great red hammer falling from the sky
In a deep booming voice that shakes the ground they hear,"More blood for the blood god!"
Then the hammer strikes and the planet turns into an orb of pure blood, which Armok then swallows, pisses back out, let's dry, then forges it and it's first anvil in one blow of his great hammer to create more blood

Why doesn't Armok send my dwarves gifts when they perform sacrifices?
