Why haven't dwarves figured out how to make regular bread like literally every Western society in history?

They can always throw the monarch in the magma.

Why don't dwarves butcher livestock that died of natural causes, such as old age?

Old age is such a foreign concept to dwarves that it seems like some strange and terrible disease.

How does a single shield stop a bout of dragonfire?
