They were all wiped out (along with the centaurs) by Urist McAdventurer between the years -19 and -1. They dominate the world pre-worldgen, and prevent expansion of civilized society before then. All the peoples of the world agree to roll their calendars over to commemorate Urist McAdventurer, who died of an infected toenail from the battle with the last griffon in year 0.

You won't believe how simple that is... just go to a site, press k, shout, and claim the site for yourself. You will get to name your new civ, and become the lord of it. If you want, you can kill the previous lord/lady and maybe the lawgiver. *UHUM* DECAPITATE *UHUM*

Dwarven Children also tantrum. Dwarven babies haven't attained a high enough level of mental capacity to tantrum.

Why can dwarves drink blood in adventure mode and not fortress mode?
