Depends on what is in the cavern. Usually, no.

Why can't we make 7/7 tiles of Milk, Blood, Booze, Venom, Vomit or Ichor?

They can't get their own drink, so the dwarves responsible for giving them drinks give them water out of selfishness.

They don't the world shifts under them and makes it appear that they are shambling, when they are actually tumbling.

For the last millennium, Artulan Soulscourge, king of goblins, has been slowly guiding the evolution of his people by gradually splicing rabbit DNA into their genome.

Why did 95% of my fortress suddenly decide it was a good idea to starve themselves to death by ineffectively fighting an errant cave crocodile for 9 months?

It reminds them of the birth of the great frost giant god Ymir, who suckled from the primeval cow Aušumbla at the dawn of time. After Ymir's death his flesh became earth and created maggots and from these maggots was born the blood god Armok and his chosen people the dwarves!

(Aside from adding in Armok, that's real Norse creation myth.)

Why are baby dwarves born with preferences for things they've never heard of yet?

The dwarf doesn't actually know they like these things so much. The player, as an omniscient deity, simply knows what they want before even they do.

Why do elves do so well in worldgen, while dwarves and humans always get massacred by the goblins?
