Yeah the hospital bug is kind of a serious one, but easily worked around by not including chest and using a stockpile. It's kind of crazy.

Why are my dwarves afraid of the wild cats?

They are afraid being adopted by a wild cat.

Why do dwarfs hate only one kind of vermins?

The fortresses are penal colonies.
The mountainhome has far too many degenerates too deal with by itself, so it sends out minor nobles to establish penal colonies across the world.

Because not all vermin are that bad in the eyes of the dwarf, just one knocks off the Dwarven happy feel.

Why aren't there orcs in vanilla DF? Like, seriously. C'mon Blizzard.

Everyone knows that the first orcs were bred from elves; but genetics aren't implemented in enough detail to allow it yet in DF.

Where does the additional mass come from when using the melt item glitch to create metal?

That's due to a phenomena similar to that experienced with cage space. The same physics that permits an infinite number of animals to be stored in a single cage also permits the extraction of metals given a suitable piece of starting metal.

Why can't clowns dig through cotton candy?

They don't have an anvil. And because they don't have anvils, they can't make picks. And only picks can dig through candy.

That's called Top-Down Perspective, brother.

Could someone tell me why cheese is so important to Dwarven culture? It was a thing since 2006, and still goes strong. I want a tale.

Alcohol and cheese are very similar substances.
Alcohol is made from aging wheat, tubers, fruits, and maybe other stuff.
Cheese is made from aging milk products.
Clearly, cheese is the solid equivalent of booze.

Do dwarves prefer Marble or Granite?

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

Granite cannot be used to make steel.

They give the items away for free, but first the buyer has to dislodge it from the trader's skull.

Who is the overseer of the mountainhomes?

Who is the overseer of the mountainhomes?

A dwarf. Why do you think so many migrants leave?

How can an artifact get set on fire, but never be consumed?

What's wrong with using magma? That's almost always the easiest method.
I have issues channeling it properly to do that method. I end up flooding the fortress with magma.

There are indefinite amount of material (wood for example) in an artifact. It is similar to aquifer: you can put out of a single aquifer tile any amount of water and it never gets drained. Fire consumes wood at a certain rate, so it never run out.

Back to dwarfs migrating from mountainhome: How many dwarfs are there in mountainhome if it can afford sending that many reasonably trained dwarfs to migrate to my fortress every year?

The number of dwarves in the mountainhomes is the same as the amount of water in an aquifer or material in an artifact. There are an infinite number of trained dwarves waiting to come and, due to the mountainhomes being ruled by a dwarf, are all ready to spring at any chance to leave.

I guess if no one is answering then I will answer my own question

Why don't suicidal dwarves just stab themselves?

Because they are too stupid to realize that they can. They also don't want to ruin their artifact battleaxes.

Why didn't anyone answer my previous post?
