Is there a word that combines comedy with tragedy and farce?
Heiterverzweiflung. Not a legit German word so much as something a friend and I made up in German class once. "Carefree despair". When life is so fucked that you can't stop laughing.

To answer all those burning, essential questions; like 'How many knife-armed gibbon men does it take to defeat an armored zombie whale'.

Why oh why do world-generated soldiers have such a disdain for gauntlets and boots?
why do my dwarves walk to that river to drink, when I have a perfectly good well with stagnant water?

WTF. I just spotted a lavish meal made out of 5 ingredients:
masterfully minced quinoa flour, superiorly minced dwarven syrup, masterfully minced dwarven syrup, exceptionally minced kaniwa flour and finely minced dwarven sugar.

Now I know there is or was a bug with flour in barrels, but that's not it, because I am not using any barrels or bins in my fort's stockpiles at all, except for booze and plant extracts like syrup, which come produced in barrels.

I am using a (specialized) single tile quantum dump, which does not accept or hold barrels, for edible mill products, and a non quantum dump, normal stockpile for dwarven syrup.
How the hell did that fifth ingredient sneak in? I never fiddled with the kitchen screen during cooking either.

Do you make both lavish meals and basic (2 ingredient) meals?
Because it sounds like the bug where the cook takes an already cooked meal such as a biscuit made of dwarven sugar and kaniwa flower, and use it as an ingredient, resulting in a meal with too many ingredients.

Fuck it, just mince everything in the kitchen and throw it in the pot. Call it a 'roast'. No one up there will notice the difference, they're so drunk they'd eat dirt. Or clay.

Speaking of cooking, why do dwarves think that mixing everything with tallow results in an edible dish?

Also, if you ever figure out why poets/bards/dancers just randomly start butchering people/getting butchered, please don't fix it, I love never knowing when a dance party will turn into a slaughter.

Because it does? If you are on ketogenic or paleo diet, then this is normal. The dwarves apparently are not on such diets as a race, because they eat things like cereals and sugars, but individuals can be. Dwarven cooks, as social creatures, cater to such members.

"Dwarven paleo diet"

That's a hilarious thought in context, given that the world my forts are in is usually only 250 years old. 'Paleo' would be, what, years 0-5? <grin>
