How many licks does it take to get to the Dwarven center of a Dorfy-pop?

A-one, hu-two-hoo, hu-threee...

Three.

By the time I was old enough to remember that commercial, they'd cut it down to just the turtle saying "Ask Mr. Owl" and the owl's segment. I actually just learned about Mr. Cow and Mr. Fox today, when I went to look up the commercial on YouTube.

Are there meteor(ite)s in Armok's worlds? If so, why don't we find meteoric iron? If not, why not?

No. Not yet anyway. And because Armok is obviously still studying astrophysics at university.

Why is Armok still in university?

Pretty much just don't use a mace and you'll be a-ok.
But... I have more macelords than any other weapon... My militia commander can (and has, in alternate worlds) kill my entire military...

I think he's messing with Cryxis, macelords are the best for undead because they pulp parts best, though for general use they don't tend to be the most effective weapon (in the sense that if you fight 400 goblins of varying armors with a squad of mixed weapon soldiers, a macelord would get fewer kills than other weapon users, not in the sense that they are unable to kill things, it's more of a minmaxing thing than necessary knowledge). Also blades turn one zombie into 30 smaller zombies if there's a resurrector nearby.

(Maces aren't bad, it's just that war hammers are mathematically better than maces in every way.)

He has to get reaccredited each time he reforges the world.

What shenanigans does Armok get up to at university? Does he drink magma instead of beer? (Magma pong, anyone?)

Reading his name would trigger it. Thinking of him would trigger it. No other circumstances would trigger it- it was strictly related to the concept of Bill Clinton entering the conscious mind.

He brews an alcohol powerful enough to induce permanent genetic damage to the drinker, and before he can convince one of his buddies to drink it he always spills it onto the world, onto a person creating the first dwarf. Thus he cannot create a viable world without going to university first. He also keeps a stock of magma to dump on the other overgods at the end of sports games, and occasionally to drink as part of dares, but it's more of a special occasion thing than a normal response.

What sports do they play at Armok's university?

Pin the great sword on the kitten, grizzly bear poking competitions, dodge ballista arrow, goblin golf and other classics.

Why doesn't armok make his little lunatics immortal and allow them to recuperate from any injury, including loss of limb? There could be so much more blood that way.

Up until the point they become Legendary everything. In which case they steamroll everything else and leave the world in the Age of Death.

Why does "What would Urist do" fit the tune of "The day the music died."?

I love how you guys always kindly explain me smarter than I really am. ._. I just did not know of the mace's specific aptitude for undead killing as I've never used or seen one used for that purpose. I'm basing everything in that comment with what I have seen, which is macespawn* getting their asses handed to them pretty promptly and anything with a sword being uberfatal to all that bleeds.

Because the latter might very well follow the former.

For my reference, what is each weapon good for?

Serious answer:
Hammers and maces in general are good for pulping things, which means that they are good for versusing undead and/or enemies with metal armour.
Axes are good for chopping things, which means a lot of severed limbs and gore aplenty. Useful for enemies that bleed out, but fare poorly against enemies that have armour whose material is equal and higher than the metal the axe is made of.
Spears are good for stabbing things, which means they are rather decent against things in armour with organs. They also create less of a mess than axes.
Swords are a general in-between between the above three, capable of blunt, slash, and pierce, but not as good as the specialist of that field.

Fun answer:
Doesn't matter, blood is still spilled in the end.

Why is alcohol dependence the only form of dependence in the game?

Ninja'D on this: Axes delimb, hammers pulp, swords get stuck, picks get stuck too but are better than swords at everything, spears are better at getting stuck but also better at stabbing megabeasts in the brain or heart, maces send things flying less and pulp a bit more than hammers, whips aren't lightsabers anymore but can still be nasty since they tend to squirm right up your nose at the worst times.

You forgot "blood dependence", and "brain dependence" for many creatures, "[GRASP] dependence" for undead, and the only addiction which is stronger for dorfs than booze: socks.

Why am I so amused by checking the description on a little dorf girl to find a glorious braided beard, moustache, and sideburns telling rumors of a little girl hidden somewhere behind them?

Back in v.34 when godly adventurers were easy, I used to alternate between a mace and sword one I got skilled enough. The mace was good for knocking people out so I could drain their blood.

Because you actually check the descriptions and imagine how funny looking dorfs are rather than just looking at their preferences...

For my reference, what is each weapon good for?
hammer: breaking bones and crushing skulls, Spear: stabbity stabbity/popping organs (keep a backup weapon on hand, they tend to get stuck), mace: pulping parts, axe: turning one monster into many tiny monster bits (good for getting leather and bones, not so good for hauling), sword: all of the above, but not as good at any specific thing as the weapon that specializes in it (especially bad at blunt attacks, but they can be done).

How many questions can one comment answer and still have room for their own question?
