How does it compare to Hazeron, since you can more or less do the same thing there? (Of course in Hazeron NPCs are sufficient as crew as well, much of the time)

They're two different things. This game has NPC enemies and anomalies and is generally just about the ship and it's crew. Hazeron is an empire-building game where you can take the wheel of a ship you designed. Artemis is quite fun because of the teamwork; the officers are reliant on other officers to keep the ship running. You can take multiple positions, but for the ones that require constant attention such as the helm and weapons, it's almost impossible to run two posts at once. In Hazeron it was quite rare to be able to have a full player crew and then an actual battle with another ship, in Artemis, that's the point of the game.

Im aware you can play over net but would really like to try this as a Lan or summit.

Bump for great justice.
It's been a year or so since this was talked about, and I'm sure it's come a good way since then.

It's on Steam Greenlight now.

I so want this if it can be played on internet instead of lan, with video stream of partecipants to mitigate the impersonal distance gap.

There's a group of us that have played online to great success using TS to communicate. If the host wants to actually play a station, they can run two instances of the program and connect to their own game.

This game could honestly give out hand jobs for free and people would still bitch.

Hey, I'm from the north-west of England.

Interested in trying this game out, but short on cash right now. Also, it's on Steam Greenlight, vote for it!

I love this game. Never tried playing it only, but played a few nights with some friends, and while I think we played it out (there wasn't a whole lot to it, really), it was MORE than worth our 8 dollars apiece. Tons better than going out to see a movie together or something. We even hooked the main screen up to the big TV.

The real key to the game is the interaction with other people. It's a social and collaboration game, through and through. And it's just such a great feeling.

I didn't this this warranted an entirely new topic, however I just saw something interesting on Steam.

As the game was designed to be played with people in the same room buying the game was essentially buying 6 copies of the game (one for each of your crew), and as such was pretty expensive for one person. It appears to be on Steam now, and now it's priced individually at about $7 USD. Oddly enough there isn't a 6-pack or whatever.

This means that those of us who do not have real friends or projector screens and laptops to go around can potentially enjoy the online play the game provides.

I haven't done any research into it, however last time I tried playing the online was very janky and broke nearly constantly. Thus I don't know if the Steam version works any better, and I don't have time to research it right now though. Still, it's a cool game you should give a look into, and if you were part of the Guns of Icarus crew around here, this game is right up your alley.

I played it online a while back with some people and we didn't have any problems with it.

Me and a few friends have been testing out the online for the Steam version, it works absolutely beautifully. We have yet to get a full crew compliment, though, so I can't say for sure that more or less players will change anything, but it shouldn't theoretically.

So wait, this thing can actually play online reasonably well? Do you use Steam chat or something to communicate?
