bizarre survival
« on: July 21, 2011, 04:19:57 am »

I have a pet ram here with a broken left false rib and a FRACTURED HEART. Its been alive for quite a while in this condition. How is this possible?

Are the fortresses there for psychological reasons?  Are they trying to hold back entropy itself, rather than the goblin hordes?

He he he.  Yeah, it almost looks done...  alas...  those who are in your teens, hold on until your twenties...  those in your twenties, your thirties...  others, cling to life as you are able...<P>It should be pretty fun though.

I guess the grass was greener on the other side.

I got fed up with my fortress, so I decided to kill everyone (abandon is for elves) with a cave-in.

OK, cave-ins were always pretty deadly, but with the new falling object damage they are downright brutal.  As far as I can make out from the logs, many people were killed by the flying bodies of other victims.  One baby's corpse ricocheted off three other people, two walls and the floor.

You mean colored red in the view screen? or is it light blue?

If its light blue, it can still live. Reminds me of my adventurer who took it all, all organs were colored light blue...He lived to fight on for more battles

its red. still alive, and apparently moving around its pasture. I have no idea how it got into this condition, but hope to learn from it for dwarven science!

AFAIK hearts don't actually do anything other than contain major arteries, so its quite possible to survive a broken heart

Unless it is pierced though. And is this literal or figuratively meant?  :P

Interesting. Apparently, by definition, you could use the word 'fracture' for things other than bones, its just that it would be highly unusual. So basically, this animal's heart has been literally separated into two pieces. Now if those counted as separate hearts, it might actually be harder to kill, like a super camel or something. I'm pretty happy to have it survive, since it is someone's pet. I suppose it should be fortress mascot or something.
