Inflate error: -3
« on: September 03, 2006, 11:30:00 pm »

In adventure mode, after playing for a while, whenever I try to enter anywhere from the world map an error comes up saying "Inflate error: -3". This could have something to do with me killing the Dwarf Fortress process every time I die.
Anyway, reply if you want me to email you the save, Toady.

Yes, it is probably that... It happends to me too (not that I kill the process, but my computer suddenly shut down...)

I am not sure that Toady can do anything with that : If it takes time to shut down the game when you do it properly, it is because it needs to write a few things into memory.

I kept getting that, after my computer crashed once. It would happen whenever I tried to load a game or create a new world.

Clearing out my data/save helped, even though I lost my one really good fortress.

I will mod in plastic as a resource.  I will then tweak the Dwarven civ entry so that coins are only made out of plastic, and are called "credit cards".
I will make dwarves purchase things with bushels of credit cards.  It will be a mockery of both systems.
It will be stupid.  But it will be gloriously stupid.

"inflate error -3" means that the save is dead, because for whatever reason it was interrupted halfway through the process.  Other than keeping backups, and me eventually doing autosaves and so on, there's nothing to be done for these files.
