I want to be a test subject! Put me on the list, please.

Edit: If I get on the list, can I volunteer for adwarf's test as a Magic Knight?

Mech vs Knight vs Aircraft Combat Testing

10ebbor10

You hastily adjust numerous dials in the cockpit stabilizing engine pressure, leveling off power generation from the magitech engines, and ensuring munition and fuel counts are acceptable as warning sirens scream all around you. You're one of a three-person team set to hold the northern watchpost, and now the enemy has finally decided to show their face, barbarians from the frozen glaciers and ice plains come to pillage the lands of your people. With grim determination you sit back and send power to the rotors as you begin to make your way straight up out of the sheltered launch-bay coming out into the midst of a light snowstorm to look out upon the snow covered forests and hills surrounding the little fortress carved into the hill.

kisame12794

The sound of your helmet locking into place drowns out the wail of sirens though it doesn't last long as you clamber up the ladder rig leading the cockpit of the Ironside Model IV that you've piloted since your graduation from the Academy. As you reach the top and pull yourself into the padded seat of the cockpit the door seal shuts behind you and a number of magical glyphs appear all around you as the system boot up,within moments the displays boot up and you can see as if the mech's eyes were your own though a number of indicators such as armor integrity and heat meters overlay the images before you. The first thing you see is the gates of the watchpost pull open as your displays turn on, off to the side you notice the knight looking out onto the soon to be battlefield from atop the watchpost's tower, grinning slightly you reach forward and spur the machine to life determined to outshine the knight at all costs.

Tiruin

You were at the top of the tower expecting the landscape near the watchpost when the sensors triggered and the warning sirens went off, even now you stood in the same place looking down at the forests and hills in front searching for the barbarians that would dare come to taint the holy lands of your kingdom. Before you even thought of taking action you found your spear in hand, probably a sign from the gods that this wasn't a false alarm like last time, pulling your cloak tighter around you to try and drown out the cold you wait for the enemy to appear ...

Entire Group

The first few minutes are tense as the sirens continue to wail in the distance, of course the first sign of combat is even worse as the three of you watch over a dozen of the barbarians come pouring out of the trees and come charging towards the watchpost. A few armed with melee weapons, but most of them bearing primitive or makeshift firearms.

Charge forward, closing the distance between the enemy and myself. Fire my sidearm as I go, aiming for the heavy weapons crew.

Call Forth the Red God's Fang along with the Blessing of Crimson; SMITE!

"By Crimson be purged!"

Operation Orange

Everyone
Scan the area for things.
The plod seems slow and unerring; the usual speed, given the enchantments on the barrow--though it is rumored that the appearance of being unmanned is only an illusion: nothing has failed to convince you otherwise that this merchant transport moves only at two speeds:
Slow, and Droll.

*Tap tap tap*
Havel's staff echoes along with your footsteps as you approach the periphery of the forest, with the silence it brings being your other companion. Watch's Rock, the tower ruin nearby is said to have been ten times its height since now--a silent sentinel over Gallean's bridge, and the deep cliffs that supported it: the cliffs where the road branches off into the many walkways on and through the arching rock. The Dwarf gives all of you a nod as he moves onwards, checking the area for any markers or signs or signals on where the merchant has suggested you move ahead to. . .

You hear silence as he moves into the distance and the creaking of the barrow to follow. Somehow, some of you have doubts of the authenticity of the travel guide in these lands. The Aurelians respect the world and its landscapes--obvious given the serene atmosphere of nature around you, but the lack of animal sounds did not aid that piece of tourism.

Perhaps the trees were fake?

To your right, a deer bounds through the grass.

Check what's inside my haversack.
*creeaaak craaaack*
The barrow echoes as you move along in a pseudo-march, watching anything around you to pass the time. You unsling your carrying bag as you move and examine its contents.

Given the composition of your armor and the state of the material in regard to the fields of magic around you--little is present for its upkeep, as it is standard procedure in metallurgy to adapt to environment. Inside your pack, you find several items of clothing, three knives or daggers, as well as dried meats and a bag of salt and a whetstone lying on top.

You wonder if the sand barrels they usually have back at the caravan would do your armor well, though.

adwarf
A long way ahead, you notice the road moves off into the forest and towards the ruins of the tower, and ascend a hill to check the roads ahead: clear and fresh with the air of the land and the coolness of the sea as the winds roll in, though you have an unsettling feeling about the tower--having never been too accustomed to these lands in your journeys. The lack of natural noises, while it could be said to be common at this time of year and at this area in these lands, usually kept you on edge: back in Thurin's lands, that usually meant danger or a natural disaster approaching, yet you did note a few animals along your trek.

The road you come from is far enough from the forests and undergrowth that any clear danger could be seen with enough time to prepare defenses, but you feel something not right in the air.

On the road to your destination and a far walk from the forest-branch path, you manage to see a glint of light. It comes from what your trained eyes recognize as a strewn out pile of coins, glinting in the sunlight along with their drawstring bag, lying by the roadside in a discarded manner.

Now who would discard good cash?

Investigate the pile of coins. We must find out what happened to it's owner!
Look around, I guess.

Advance towards the pile of coins, and search for any danger. If I don't find any poke the pile of coins. If nothing happens from that take the coins.
